Hello all!

I'm so crazily excited right now: my DH and I have booked our very first trip to WDW (our first trip to any Disney park, in fact!).

We're heading over August 18th (faaaaaar too long away, but I work in a school, so have to take any big holiday during the summer break).

We wanted to be there for our wedding anniversary (14th) but have a wedding to attend in the UK on the 16th. It worked out cheaper (I think the US schools go back mid August), so now it's just a case of counting down the days and making lots of plans!

I look forward to chatting to you all, and learning from your wisdom! :)

How exciting!! You won't be alone with a long countdown. Many of us here book well in advance, some even more than a year out, for our trips. There is something very special about that first trip. I guess that's the one that only ever happens once, lol.

Looking forward to hearing about your plans as you share them with us pixiedust:

Yes, most of the US schools are back in session by mid august so you will find the crowds more manageable at that time too :)

how exciting!!!! you're going at a great time!
as you say, many schools are back in session so the crowds aren't quite as massive!!
and the weather is still nice and hot!!

enjoy the planning - i find it to be almost as much fun as being there...almost!!

That first time feeling is fantastic.:cool1::cool1:

We haven't even been on this years hols to WDW yet and have already booked for November 2014.:goodvibes

Any questions just ask all the peeps on here and no question is too silly either:thumbsup2

oh and Welcome to the Dis board:welcome:

Congratulations :goodvibes

Another long countdown here but I do love the planning so that helps pass the time!

I remember that feeling! I booked last September for our first WDW trip and can't believe it's now only a couple of weeks away! I feel like a kid at Xmas! :) Best advice I can give you is make the most of this forum and Orlando Informer.. I never knew about this site but everyone is SO friendly and don't bat an eyelid when I ask what I believe could be a silly question. I now don't know what I would do without the help of my fellow DIS-ers!! :) There's also a FAB travel guide called 'The Hidden Magic Of Disney' that provides a VERY informative insight into the Disney parks and things a lot of people may miss on their trip (esp first timers who aren't as likely to look at every single little detail of the park.. e.g there's a lost and found shelf at the railway station of TTA that houses a wooden leg with the name Smith on it which is a reference to the joke in Mary Poppins - "I knew a man with a wooden leg named Smith", "what was the name of his other leg?") It's not an expensive book.. I believe it's only 5 or 6 pounds on Amazon.

Hope you have a lovely time! :)

Enjoy planning your first visit :cool1:

Be warned joining this site is not for the faint hearted - they will feed on your obsession and provide pricing tips and ideas galore so you will end up going again and again and again...............:lmao:

I'll second that! I joined this site for advice on my upcoming trip thinking I would take my son just the once but now am pricing up for next yr! Heeheehee! ;)
