First Walt Disney World Trip October 13-22 any suggestions??

I've never been in August (I'm a pale Brit and only used to cold rain :rotfl: ) but I've been for the last 2 Octobers and it has been plenty warm enough although you will need a plastic poncho! MK and Epcot were open to 9 most nights,MGM and AK to 8. There were the fireworks at least once every night at MK and Spectromagic-don't miss it- about twice each week, check back on the home page on this site in a couple of months-it will give you the full opening times, including extra magic hours and all parade and firework times for all the park-thats about 4 months quicker than WDW's official site!

The best tip I can give is to plan your holiday like a military operation, create a detailed timetable of what you will do when. Then ignore it and do what you want when you want it.

Have a wonderful time.

I've just noticed on the home page that we already have Septembers hours up, plus it shows last Octobers hours so will give you some idea.

October hours are up now on Disney.

I have went in October for the last 2 years and plan to go again 19-28. I have the biased opinion that you made a great choice.

1. Do the Not-so-scary Halloween party if your budget permits. Great fun and awesome fireworks, etc.

2. Crowds are so-so, but I hear that Oct is getting more popular from some CM's. Not sure. Weather has been great for us the last two years. Low to mid-80's highs and minimal rain (hit or miss in hurricane season).

3. Epcot has food/wine festival if you are into that.

4. You may catch the front end of the Funai Classic if anyone in your family is a golf fan.

5. Keep reading the great input from the folks on here. They will give you great input for things your kids will like. Mine is 2 y.o. and loves the character breakfasts, Chef Mickey's being one of the best.

Hope this helps.

Just wanted to say that we went to the Halloween Party in 2004 and we loved it!! Got the park to ourselves!! I didn't even think about packing them a costume! It never crossed my mind-so we had to get them one there and they were expensive!
But, the party was great!! Hope you enjoy your trip! We enjoyed going in Oct-but remember it is still hot and humid here this time of year. The pools feel great!!

We went to WDW last June and had fun with our 2 teen boys but it was SO hot and So crowded. We are wanting to go again this year and take our 3 yo grandson. We still want to be able to enjoy the pool though. Would October be a good time to go and be able to slow down and enjoy the parks from a 3 year old's perspective?

We went the 3rd week of September with our 18 month old. It was too hot. Not sure if there's much difference in October or not.

We hit the parks at opening and would leave after lunchtime to head back to our air conditioned room (CBR). We'd go back to the parks at suppertime. Plus at Animal Kingdom, we only stayed until 10:30 am. It seemed especially hot there.

Our life saver was one of those water fans. We filled it each day with ice & water. It was especially hot to carry our son at Epcot as some of those buildings did not allow strollers in them.

We had fun, but next time we're taking our son in January.

If you decide not to do the dining plan, take breakfast and lunch foods with you and eat in your room. On our last visit, we ate all but one breakfast in our room. We didn't eat lunch too often there and once or twice we were so tired in the evening, it was nice to have sandwich stuff there to eat instead of hitting the food court.

If you are a Dr. Pepper fan, I don't believe that that is sold at WDW so you might want to take some with you (at least it wasn't in 2002). We kept cold drinks in our room so that saved some money also.

Since you are going to be there for a longer number of days, I'd just take my time, going back to your hotel for a swim and a rest in the middle of the day if you need it.

Look over everything there is to see and do and have everybody pick their top fives so you at least hit those.

Summerland/Winterland miniature golf is fun and a change of pace.

Definately let the kids to the Kidcot masks. Our daughter was 11 on our last visit and she had a blast.

Take time to smell the roses and look around. Don't just hurry through. You'll miss a lot if you do.

Have a great trip!

Things that we have always done on our trips are:
1. Bring a kettle (for tea...coffee & cereal)
2. Buy lots of water, soft drinks and juice off site (this always saves us alot of money...even if you are not big water drinkings because of the warmer weather you will probably drink alot more).
3. We always go to the parks early morning...taking a mid day break (especially since both places your staying have nice pools) and returning early evening.
4. You'll beable to wash clothes at OKW for free so bring some laundry soap just in case(a great thing during a mid day break)
5. Make ADR's for the time your on the dining plan...we always fine that the best time for dining late afternoon(4:30...5:00)...for some reason our experience with service always seems to be better around that time...maybe because it is less busy:confused3
6. I would take in all the night shows they are all great!
7. We loved the Halloween party!! (At the party we were able to get our face painted for free in toontown...we were going to pay to get it done in dd early that day but we were told that it was free at the party...you can also enter the MK around 4:30 on your party ticket)
8. We fine the best thing for autographs are a white baseball caps and a thick color sharpie markers...it's alot easier to carry around the parks than the books.
9. If you drive I would recommend stopping at the outlet mall and picking up some pins to trade at reduce prices:thumbsup2
10. We always fine the parks that have extra morning magic hours are very busy afterward so we always leave just as the park opens to everyone else and go to another park. (If you have park hoppers)
11. We always fine the bus drivers are full of great tips and have always been very helpful to us...on our last trip we waited to see Fanstasmic and after sitting waiting for one hour it was cancelled due to dry lightening in the area...we didn't have park hopper passes and the next day we were going to EPCOT and had no other days left on our passes...we told our bus driver how dissapointed we were that we missed it and he suggested we mention it to guest relations at EPCOT...when we did they gave us a free passes to enter MGM after 6:00pm to see the show...it was fablous and we even had time to take the boat back to EPCOT for the fireworks there!:cool1: :cool1:
