first visit to disneyland

We are going to the west coast this summer for a first visit to Disneyland. Any suggestions for accomadations for party of 5. Thanks.

I love the onsite hotels, but they are expensive. You didn't giver a price point so I will give you some ideas. Most people on here love the Howard Johnson's. It is reasonable priced, has big suites and kids suites. You should use expedia or some such site to get ideas. There are quite a few within walking distance right across the street. They usually cost anywhere from $80.00 - $120.00. The onsite ones, Grand Californian(most expensive $300.00- 500-00 for regular room) Paradise Pier, ($200. and up) and of course The Disneyland Hotel($250. to $$$) there are a number of stickies on this main page with lots of tips and quotes, room pictures, etc.

You can't beat the buy 3 nights get 2 extra days free offer for this summer. We did this last year and since we really wanted to stay onsite (before we stayed at HOJO and Fairfield Inn) it made good sense with this type of discount. I would suggest the DL hotel. It is nice to walk through downtown disney each morning much more so than walking on Harbor Blvd. Plus the swimming pools were much better onsite vs. offsite.

My friends and I used to stay at the Stupor8 around the corner. $60/night most of the time these days and walkable. It ain't fancy but the room's just for sleeping.

We really liked Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. It is more reasonable than the other on site Disney hotels, has a great pool with a slide, and great customer service. Another hotel we enjoyed was The Anabella, which is across the street from the parks. It has a wide selection of spacious rooms and is very reasonably priced.
