We are heading to Aulani on our first trip there in late May/early June with our two daughters. We have done 2 Disney Cruises (baby was on one) and a few trips to Disney Paris when living in Europe.

I have already pre-booked Character Breakfast and registered my 6 year old for Space Goo and also for the luau at Aunty's.

We are planning to spend most of the time at the resort and have a car rented for one day so far.

I have a few questions:
- What is the best way to see the most characters? Our girls LOVE the character visits so I want to make sure we see as many as we can in Aulani.
- What would you recommend we prioritize for our car rental day? Some options I had in mind are Waimea Falls or the Plantation.
- Daughter loves animals so we are going to try to find the private cove I have read about with seals/sea turtles that you can walk to - any time of day best? I imagine we will have early mornings given jet lag.

Thanks!

How fun!! I've read there's a character line you can call in the mornings to see when and where the characters will be throughout the day. We don't go until July so I can't answer the rest of your questions. Have a fantastic trip!

Yes, phone the character line (after 9am, I think) and you will get a list of who, when and where. If they are meeting on the lawn, it's like a well kept secret and you will likely be one of very few families back there! Goofy is almost always in/near the gradual entry point of the lazy river - he is wearing water shoes, so he walks right into the water. You can often find someone near the koi pond throughout the day. During the week we were there, we managed to see everyone, and we even got a photo with Mickey and Minnie together. The characters that are at Aulani are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Stitch, Chip, Dale, Goofy and Duffy. Some of them just kind of wander freely throughout the resort grounds on days that it isn't very busy.

As others said, easier characters interactions than at WDW. Call the extension listed on the Daily Iwa at 8am daily and it will give you the full run down.

here is a sample of the character schedule (from this past Tuesday):

we took pics with all the characters once over the course of three days, and the lines were usually ~5 minutes long. we typically got there about 5 minutes before the start of the event, except for Mickey and Minnie today, when we got there right on the dot, so we waited for about 10 minutes as the line was maybe 10-12 families deep. still, very do-able and the weather was balmy and a little windy (but in a good way).

I have a question - you mentioned a luau at Aunty's - I wasn't aware Aunty's had a luau. Are you referring to the Character breakfast? or the Starlit Hui show (the hawaiian show)? Thanks!

I think she means either the Aunty's Aloha Party or the Keiki Hula - both free activities. My kids did the Keiki Hula, but not the Aloha Party. They did some crafts and learned a dance, which was the same dance that they learned at the Starlit Hui, so they got pretty good at it.

DS9 and DD5 did the Aloha Party. they brought back bracelets made of orchids and some sort of drawing.

they also did Space Goo the day before and brought back the goo in a ziplock bag.

for the premium activity they did Surf's Up. i posted a mini review and a picture of the finished product at: http://www.disboards.com/threads/auntys-beach-house-premium-experiences.3500773/

we will leave for the airport in a few hours and the kids don't want to leave Aulani, lol!
