First trip to WDW ~ Could use some dining recommendations!

I have been planning our first trip for April. I found the "post your pictures of Disney food" thread very helpful. It's sticky'd to the top of the restaurant board. It was nice to see pictures of the various dishes and restaurants, then go look at the menus at allearsnet.com

We also had to look at the kids menu to make sure there was something at each place that picky DD would eat.

I also like the idea of making advance ressies, if you want to change later and there are openings, great! if not, you have something to fall back on.

Personally, I do this for every trip. No worries about eating that way, especially when picking one in the park you'll be in.

Now, thanks to the dining plan, I'd say it's a must. I've heard that walk-ups are impossible, and even 40 days out I had trouble getting a good time for CP and got closed out of the Whispering Canyon for two. (This was t-giving week, though. And my own procrastination. :) )

Coral Reef at Epcot was our biggest disappointment.

Can you tell my why Coral Reef was a disappointment? This was one I am really looking forward to.

Hi all,

We just came in October from our Honeymoon. We loved most of the restaurants we tried...let's see.

Sci-Fi - LOVED IT. We hate so much... we had the onion rings & Cheese dip as an entree, and we both ate burgers with fries....AWESOMe. The desserts are good too...but we were so full by then.

Alfredo's - This is our personal favorite. We ate their twice...and if we could, we would have gone back. It was awesome.

Mama Melrose - hmm not our favorite but it was good.

Boatwrights - POR - we had breakfast there often. The pancakes are awesome and again...you eat for four!!

ESPN - we had a blast and there too, we ate for a family of 6 i'm sure! This was a great getaway from Disney. We were watching the Red Sox game :-)

That's all I can remember... we had reservations everywhere, but ended cancelling along the way cause we were SOOO tired or our plans changed.

BUT i do recommend you make reservations...even for lunch, if you REALLY want to eat at a certain restaurant. And, I even made reservations, at the hotel for the same day or next day - don't worry too much about it.

Have fun :-)

When we were there in October, all the MK sit-down restaurants were booked and not allowing walk-ins.

Other than that we had no problem getting seated. We book Sci-Fi the day we decided to go there, walked into Cape May Cafe for breakfast (although we did have to wait a while to be seated), and booked Cape May Cafe for dinner two days beforehand, and got seated very quickly at Rose and Crown even though we didn't have reservations. However, we ate at Rose and Crown about 5:30. We tried to get reservations for 7:30 several days before but couldn't (if you get seated around 7:30-7:45 you can watch Illuminations from their patio).

I am leaving in 23 days with DH (35) DD(5) and DD(2 1/2) and I just booked breakfast at the Cape May Cafe on the day that we leave. I have res for 8am and am staying at ASMo. What did you think of the food, atmosphere, characters, etc? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Beings I am from Phila, I have been to the real Cape May in NJ more times than I can count.

Thanks! :wave2:

Just a quick correction - The Hoop De Doo Review is at Fort Wilderness, not the Wilderness Lodge. Fort Wilderness is the campground and it can be a bit of a challenge to get there.
The Hoop De Doo is great. We went on our first trip years ago, and my now adult children still talk about their memories.
The food is good (Not great), but the show with the singing and dancing and corny jokes is really a blast! The dinner is all you care to eat fried chicken and ribs, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake.
I too recommend that you make ADR's for wherever you want to eat. Aril can be busy.
Have Fun planning!

The portions at Coral Reef are extremely small (dinner), prices are extremely high for the quality, although I've heard they have come down. Our children didn't like anything on the menu. We had ADR w/ a note for a seat by aquarium. Did not get it. If we were by the aquarium it may have helped. Our bill was almost $160.00 we went back to the Poly and ordered room service. Their whole attraction is the aquarium and during peak season you may not get it --- hence terrible meal.
