First trip to Universal questions?

We will be spending 2 days at Universal during the last week in April and I have a few questions. First, we are bringing our 3 year old daughter, so are there many things to interest her and that she can do? Second, what are the crowds typically like during this time? Finally, I am 6'7" and about 375 lbs and wonder how many rides will accommodate me comfortably at Universal? Thanks in advance.

For your DD3, Seussland has about 4 rides that she should love. Anything else on property will probably less interesting to her. She may also do Flight of the Hippogriff (at IoA) and the Curious George (at the Studios) kiddie coasters if tall enough and daring enough (not all DD3s or DS3s are). There are also about 5 play areas scattered across both parks that should keep her interest too.

As for size, you honestly may have issues on the main Harry Potter ride Forbidden Journey. There are several threads with hundreds of posts on this particular subject. FJ has installed "modified seating" on it about 4 months back to help. Modified seating also exists on Hulk and the Dragon Challenge coasters, both at IoA. Sorry I don't know about others.

As for crowds, I'll pass and let the real pros answer.

In 2008, we were there with a four year old. While there are some things they can do, there are not as many as at Disney. Only a few attractions in each park don't have some kind of height requirement. There are also a couple of shows.

As for size, it is difficult to say since people carry weight differently. However, 6'7", 375 lbs sounds like a real challenge. It seems that would be very difficult to fit on any of the "harness rides" or possibly anything with a safety bar of any kind. I would imagine that universal's rider size restrictions that you encounter will be similar to other themepark / roller coaster experiences you have had elsewhere.

Historically the crowds around that time aren't too bad...but that was before WWoHP. Now it's anyone's guess as to how bad the crowds will be on any given day. :confused3

There plenty of things for your daughter to do in both parks. At the Studios, she would enjoy Curious George, Barney, Woody Woodpecker's KidZone, E.T. and the Animal Actors show. The playgrounds will keep her busy for hours.

At IOA, she would enjoy Seuss Landing and all the attractions within the island. Heck...I enjoy the rides and I'm in my 40's. ;)

There is also Camp Jurassic, Jurassic Park Discovery Center and my favorite...Me Ship The Olive. She would really enjoy those areas plus just walking around Cartoon Lagoon and seeing the characters is a good time.

As far as size restrictions....there are test seats in front of several attractions that you will need to try out before waiting in the queue. You will find test seating at: Hulk, Dragon Challenge, Forbidden Journey, Ripsaw Falls, Revenge of the Mummy and Rockit.

Unfortunately, if you check out the calendar, there is a 10 pm closing which means crazy crowd levels are predicted. I think its because Easter falls so late this year so its not a typical spring break season.

Yup...Easter is late this year and the crowds will be there in force. If Easter were earlier, the crowds wouldn't be as bad.
