So excited!! We've booked a cabin for Dec 21-28, 2019. There are 4 of us, myself, DH, and two sons (13 & 9). I've been several times, my husband has only been a couple of times, my 13 year old has been once when he was 3 but only remembers the teacup, and it will be my 9 year old's first trip. We're hoping to surprise the boys with the trip! It'll be their first time flying as well (we're from Oklahoma). We've become big tent campers over the past few years, but didn't want to tent camp in Florida, so sprung for a cabin. Everything I've read about FW just sounds straight up our alley.

I know the crowds will be crazy that week, but we really couldn't take the kids out of school, and didn't want the heat, so took the crowds. We're going to try our best to keep a positive vibe, but also plan on taking a mid-day break to come back to the fort and refresh before heading back to the park for dinner and a few more rides.

I've really learned so much reading on the form and just wanted to say hi! Looking forward to seeing how everybody's trips go who are going before us. Any big tips for the fort or cabins in particular? I just learned yesterday about the credit you can get for turning down Mousekeeping.

Jcthompson2, welcome to the forum! I think you will love The Fort & will cry when you leave. Holidays is the best time to come. Lots of sites decorated for Christmas. If you can, rent a golf cart & go looping see all the decorations.

 Congrat jcthompson2 and howdy! Welcome to the Camping Forum. :welcome: :disrocks:

Make sure you leave an evening to walk around and see the decorated campsites when it's dark and they are all lit up. Not sure that cabins get too into it. But maybe break it up into shorter jaunts on multiple evenings - whatever your plans happen to be. A golf cart can be expensive but maybe you can get a one day Disney rental to "go looping" one night and cover more ground that way.

Throw a string of Christmas lights into your luggage and an extension cord and decorate your cabin porch railing or around the front door to add some Christmas spirit. :santa:

We like pictures posted here in Trip Report threads. Just sayin'. :rolleyes1

Thanks guys! We have rented a golf cart and I look forward to seeing the decorations! I hadn’t even thought of trying to bring our own. I just assumed only the rvs did that. That would be fun!

We loved the cabins at Christmas time. The golf cart is a great decision to tour the camp sites (do many decorations!). There is also a grill at each cabin, so you may want to take advantage of it.

JcThompson welcome. We will pull in the day after you folks and will be in one of the full hookup loops. Having a golf cart to go looping in Ft W is a great idea we do it frequently during our stays. Based on last year Christmas Eve is a great time to plan a down day. There is a Pet Parade , Golf Cart Parade, and other activities during the day.
This will be our second Christmas trip and we can hardly wait
