My family (myself, dh, dd11, dd9, and dd6) are from Missouri and we will be going to SeaWorld next Tuesday (April 16)! We will have a day-and-a-half in the park and since we obviously won't be going back any time soon, we really want to make the most of our time. I have been reading all of the SeaWorld threads, but many of them are old and I'm not sure if the information is still accurate. Can you help? I have lots of questions and I'm hoping you can help me plan our day. I'm afraid its all going to go by way too fast!
The park is only open from 10-6 that day, but unfortunately, our hotel shuttle says they can't take us until 10:30 and will have to pick us up at 5:30.
We really, really want to feed the dolphins! I've read that you can buy a tray of fish for $9, but I've also read that they've stopped doing this. Is this still something we can do? If we don't get to the park until 10:30, will we miss the best time? Do they make the adults buy a tray if all we really want to do is take pictures of the kids? Where should we stand to get the best pictures. Any other tips?
Here is the show schedule for the day we will be there:
Blue Horizons 1:45 and 3:30
One Ocean 12:00 and 5:00
Pets Rule 1:15 and 3:15
Sea Lions LIVE 11:30 and 2:45
I think we probably want to catch all the shows.
We have also scheduled the Penguin Tour for DD9 and myself and have to be there at 1:30. I thought I read that this tour takes about an hour. Is that right? I can't seem to find that information anywhere now. Will they take pictures inside?
The website says that Pacific Point will be closed while we're there. What exactly does that mean for us? Will we still be able to see the seals? I was hoping we would have the opportunity to feed them also. Is that out because it's closed?
Are there other animals we can feed (without paying for the interaction tour)? I printed out a map and it says Flamingo feeding, but I've never read anything about that.
Do you have recommendations for where to eat? I feel like we don't have much time, so I'm not really inclined to sit down at a nice restaurant. On the other hand, DD11 is recovering from a broken ankle and we may need to spend some time sitting.
I have read about a picnic that is offered with one of the shows. Is that still available? I can't find any information on the website about that.
Finally, on our second day, we need to leave in time to get back to the hotel and then catch a train to Santa Barbara by 3:30. The hotel says the shuttle isn't available to pick us up until 5:30, so that obviously won't work. How difficult is it to catch a bus or a cab to take us to our hotel (Holiday Inn Express near Old Town).
I know this was long. Thanks for wading through it and TIA for any advice you can offer!
