We are going to be in LA in August for the mexican reviara cruise. We are thinking about doing DL two days before and four days after also seeing some other sights in the area. We are having a hard time deciding where to stay we are between the Disney Land hotel and the Grand Californian? Anybody have a prefrence between the two. Were also not sure what type of tickets we need. We have WDW AP but those won't work. How much time do you need for both parks? Two of us have never been and my mom went as a teenager back in the 60's. We would like to make this a special trip since we may never go back. Any suggestions for making it extra magical? Thanks for your help.

I prefer the GC, loction location location and besides that it is a nice hotel

Grand Californian for the access to the parks , the ambiance and the Napa Rose. If you go at christmas though make sure they keep the decorations away from the lights :)

I haven't visited DL yet (can't wait til next May though, after our cruise!) but I have a suggestion - why not stay at one hotel before your cruise and the other afterwards?

That way you'll get to stay in both hotels and you'll feel like you've had 3 holidays in one!;)

Thanks everyone for your advice. We had thought about staying in one hotel before and one after and that may be what we do.

:lmao: A lady that works at the bank I go to was actually AT Grand Californian when the fire happened.

 I stayed at the Grand Californian hotel this past summer and LOVED it. I'll be staying at the DL hotel next time, ONLY because my family and I want to compare the two. I know most people said they prefer the Grand Cal. I had a dream the other night I was there and it was the last day and I clearly remember telling my mom "I like Grand Californian better."
