First Trip to DL - solo (COMPLETE) new link p.43

OK so I super skimmed and your plans look great. Glad you are going to hook with some DISers while you are there. I know you are going to have a blast and I can't wait to read all about it. I definitely have to get myself out there one of these days and I will likely also fly form BWI on SWA because of the nonstop flights!

Thanks Pam! Definitely didn't see this! Will read about all the fun next time I sign on. Hopefully today. Gotta work all night tonight, so I go in late. I want to start getting myself together now for my 24 hour shift. :faint:

Thanks for coming over! :)

24 hours :faint: I hope it goes well :)

To say I'm excited is an understatement :hyper: I mean, I LOVE WDW, but DL is totally new territory for me. I feel like I'm Christopher Columbus :rotfl: And seeing Alison and Alicia will be the icing on the cake!

They don't do nonstops from everywhere? Whenever I go out of the country I've had to do at least one stop, but in the U.S. I've always done nonstops. For short flights I think it would make me anxious to stop.

Even better Pam :thumbsup2

I'm not Pam (obviously :lmao:) but I fly into Maryland from LAX once a year, or try to. It's about a 5 hour flight to Maryland and about a 5 1/2-6 hour coming back to LAX. Definitely not as long as your flight! Good grief. One year, hopefully, i'll be able to make it to the UK...well the real UK, not the Epcot one:rotfl:

Thanks. Not too bad re flight times. Lol re EPCOT. Actually the UK is kind of cute there! Walkers crisps yum! Lol. Should we see Maryland is it worth a visit?

I know Epcot's UK is probably really cheesed up and not really at all like the real UK, but I think it's cute too. I think Baltimore is fun...if you stick to the right areas, right Pam?! :scared:

Sounds good re Baltimore :-) We always go to the UK in EPCOT. Such fun :-) lol re stick to the right areas. I think I know what you mean. Every city has those places! You know you have reached them though because we watch America shows. I know what I am doing. I got it in hand. the music changes, the lighting dims and the camera work is more dramatic. So we will be fine... No Paula...come back...

:lmao: Exactly! Every city seems to have pockets of bad/dirty. San Francisco, although such a magnificent and beautiful city, is like this. You're walking down a nice street with expensive stores and restaurants, turn a corner, and BOOM. You find yourself getting whiffs of urine and trash everywhere.

There's a lot in Maryland worth visiting but I think it's pretty spread out. Baltimore has a lot of historic sites but are they safe to get to? I wouldn't chance it without a guide. My moms DBF grew up in the area and I would only go to certain places with him leading. The Inner Harbor has some nice features, I love the Aquarium, and there are some old boats you can tour. The real draw is that Washington DC is so close which is the capital of the U.S. lots of museums and monuments to see. So it depends on what kind of vacation you like, I don't think visiting Maryland would be relaxing at all.

Following~ so excited for you! I'm taking my 5 year old son in 3 weeks~ I haven't been to DL myself in 8 years so looking forward to your TR to pick up tips!! :cheer2:

Completely agree. In fact, that's the only place i've ever been to when we go to Baltimore. When we were there just recently, we were trying to find our way back from the Inner Harbor to our hotel, took a wrong turn and ended up in ghetto-ville. Have you ever seen National Lampoon's Vacation? "Roll 'em up!"

How far is DC from Baltimore?

Thank you. Actually Washing DC is on our bucket list!

I can't wait to hear about DCA! It wasn't there when we visited. It looks amazing! :-)

I couldn't get a non stop for my trip from LA to Atlanta, I would have had to fly Delta to do that and all our miles are on American, so change planes or pay... :confused3

We took a trip there two years ago and had an awesome time! We pretty much spent the whole week at the Smithsonian....did you read that part in my TR?

Wow! It's been a LONG time since you visited!

Yes I did read your TR that's one of the reasons I want to go to Washington! Love to see the Smithsonian. Yes we visited DL in 1999 before DCA opened. We have since been to Cali we did a driving tour 4 years ago of San Fran, Lake Tahoe , Carmel by sea etc, Mammoth. Lovely. We also did a Hawaiian cruise which we really enjoyed. Love San Fran! But we didn't go to Anaheim that time.

:rotfl: Some places in Baltimore are quite scary!

They're about an hour away if there's no traffic.

I'd definitely have to rethink my strategy if it saved a lot of money.

It is now September which means

2 days until vacation!!!!! :cool1:

In the spirit of vacation: Last week I got out some of my Disney movies that I only have on VHS. I've watched Sleeping Beauty, Sword in the Stone, and 101 Dalmatians. They were all even better than I remembered, it had been awhile. I really wanted to watch Cinderella but it appears that one has gotten lost over the years. I'm hoping to catch some movies by the pool at VGC this week, I have yet to do that on any of my trips.
