We are taking our first DW trip, been to DL a lot. We are going Nov 20th for 10 days (gotta see everything) We were considering Mckey's Christmas party as an extra, but have recently heard it's ridiculously crowded and not really worth it. Any thoughts on this? Also Carousel of Progress is open seasonally??? anyone know if that time would be considered season.

thanks for any help
Dustin

Hi Dustin!

I've found that the special parties (Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, etc.) are more crowded on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights). So if you can, go during the week. Definately go - MVMCP is a very fun experience!

We went to the P&PP, and it was a BLAST!! We went on a Saturday, and the crowds were very, very light. We'll be going to MVMCP on December 9th.

Also, don't put the pressure on yourself to see everything. You won't do it in ten days. Just relax, see everything you can and save the rest to use as an excuse to come back!

heres some reasons to try the mvmcp
1.special parade
2.hot chocolate with cookie treats for all
3.alot less crowded than average days in park
4.Christmas Carols in the air, special holiday entertainment, and a spectacular version of the Wishes fireworks themed to the evening’s festivities
4.decorations "priceless"

My guess would be the Caurosel of Progress would be open during this time because of the heavier Thanksgiving/Christmas crowds, but I'm not positive

thanks to all, my wife is still unsure about the crowds. this coming from someone who sat with me thru Disneyland's 50th on the actual day, lining up at 2 in the morning the night before, Pirates re-opening at DL 3 hr wait to ride the new version of POTC, heck what's a little Christmas crowd...:santa:

For the past 4 years we've arrived at Disney on Thanksgiving Day and left the first Sunday in December. C of P has always been running.

We've also attended 3 MVMCPs and would highly recommend it!

We went to MVMCP last year on a Tuesday night. We thought it wouldn't be too crowded on a week night the first week of Dec, but it ended up being sold out. There were thousands of ECVs and strollers parked on the sidewalks so you couldn't get anywhere. People went in and staked out their viewing spot for the parade and never moved the rest of the night. I have to wonder how many of them didn't even have a ticket to the event, and maybe that's why all they could do was sit along Main St? We go during off times for low crowds, and this was the most crowded I've ever seen the park. I think there were lots of locals there because it was just before their seasonal blockout dates started. It was something I always wanted to do, but once was enough. Maybe if we had made it to the back of the park, we would have found small lines for rides, but we wanted to do the stuff that you can only do during the party. We made it to 1 character dance party that we watched while we ate dinner. We tried to get into the show at the Galaxy theater, but it was full, so we went to Monster's Inc, then went back to the theater, and in the meantime the show had let out and the next one was full already! We got so frustrated we ended up just getting some free cookies and hot cocoa and finding a parade spot near the front of the park so we could get out of there when it was done.
