We are planning to take a trip to Disney in Jan 2009. This will be our first time to Fort Wilderness. Our kids are 6 and 4 and they love camping and all things Disney so we think this will be a great vacation. Plus my DH would rather sit back at the campsite than fight the crowds at the parks. How crowded is the campgroung in January? Does anyone know when the soonest I can book a spot. We are AAA members so we were goint to book through them but were told we could not book until new rates come out. Any suggestions.

I posted all your AAA info where your first post was. jan is not to busy except for Martin Luther King weekend.

We all have to start somewhere and sometime...welcome to the camping boards....browse around and learn more than you'll ever need to know.

I did thanks! When booking with Disney do you know how much is required to hold reservations or is all due at time of booking If I understood I need to go ahead and book with Disney now and then add AAA code when they are set for next year.......is that right

book ASAP. you will need 1 nite deposit when booking if it is a site only ressie.

You can book now and call around Sept. for the AAA discount. I booked for Easter 2009 last month - they charged me one nite plus tax -this years rate- $99 as a deposit. You and the kids (especially the big kid:cool1: ) will enjoy it. This will be our 4th trip to the Fort (13 in total). We started as our first trip with our new camper in 1996 when our son was 10 and daughter was 5. Now they will be 22 and 17! Can't wait until retirement in 9 years (who's counting:rolleyes1 ) so I can spend a month or two!

I am all booked for a premium campsite on Jan 9-Jan 17, 2009 I really did not want premium but that was all she said they had right now for those dates. I am just happy that I got a spot. Afterall we are new at having a travel trailer so my DH will probally like having some extra room to back our 31 footer into. I have already told him that me and the kids will not be around as he is backing in because that could possibly ruin our vacation. Hopefully there will be a nice neighbor near by that will assist him. Anyway, very excited about our trip and will be looking for those AAA rates. Thanks again for all the help, you guys are great

Check back later. WdW always makes the premium sites available earlier than the rest. So, if you decide that a smaller site is all you need, then I'm sure you'll be able to get it. I'm also sure hubby could get some help if he needs it ;)

Thanks! I will continue to check back. I really want this to be a great trip. My DH and I went to Disney for the first time back in Feb 07 and my DH had a horrible time........does not do crowds well and he thought our kids DS4 at the time and DD2 at the time were not suppose to get tired or cranky......So the plan is to let him stay back at the Fort if he wants and me and the kids will do the parks........I will be wore out, but I love to see my kids have a good time
