December will be our first trip home to SSR. Should I, can I and where do I request the room (a 2BR) closest to the main action of the rest of the resort such as main pool, restaurant and spa? Does requesting really work? How can I make sure my request is going through to the right people? :confused3

The "right people" for requests are the CM's at Member Services...same people you called to make the reservation. You can call them back and add requests to your reservation...we like to do so at the time of booking so that the requests show up on our confirmation.

You can make a lot of different requests, but make them in order of importance and understand that the more general the request, the better chance you have of getting it.

We start off with non-smoking request for medical reasons due to my daughter's asthma. We have made other requests too but the non-smoking is the only really important one.

A lot of new DVC owners who are used to booking resort rooms think that DVC works the same way, and want to fax room requests to the room controller a few days prior to arrival. Disney has repeatedly indicated that this is not appropriate, and that it doesn't help.

If your only request at SSR is to be near the main pool, that's general enough that they might be able to accommodate you. Keep in mind that it is just a request and may not be able to be met. In our experience, they do a good job logging the requests and try to meet them if at all possible.

Well I had requested > springs,1st fl , dedicated for our trip last week .

Well I got dedicated in what had to be the worse possible location on the 4th floor. Walk to the bus stop ,to the foot bridge to get to carriage house we seemed right dead in the middle no real short way to go.

Now with that being said it was not that long of a walk anywhere on property. My DsF doesn't really like rides so he stays at the pools most of the time while we're in the parks and he walked back and forth the entire week.

The only real thing that bothered me a bit is when I got in around 11:00 i asked if anything closer was going to open up later and was told no we are 98% booked.I was at the front desk at around 3:00 and this lady was telling her friends we Got the springs 2bdrm .So I was not to happy later in the week she was telling another person on the bus she booked through CRO on cash so I guess they want them close to the sales people as possible.

Good luck on your selection.
