Anyone else take their 1 year old for their first trip? What was your "tour plan"?

We have the opportunity to take DD 9months in July and spend the time with just her. My parents are taking the older two (4, 10) to Maryland for 10 days for a family reunion trip. We thought It'd be nice to go for 2 nights, 3 days with the little one because we'd be able to focus on her and take in the experience without the other two wanting it to be all about them.
I want to make the little ones first trip special. We are still planning to take the whole family for 3 or 4 nights in October. So the older two will get to go too! My 4 year old had been asking everyday to go to Disney.

Can't speak to WDW, but I took my daughter to her very first Disneyland trip on her first birthday. I wore her in a front carrier most of the time. (She was tiny - born at 35 weeks.)

She absolutely LOVED it's a small world. So definitely try that one! I'd recommend being as flexible as possible to accommodate naps and feedings. The Baby Care Centers are AWESOME.

Thank you! I have a carrier and would definitely be wearing her as maneuvering a stroller in the past has been a pain at times. I was thinking of still bringing the stroller though just in case. Did you find that you used one at all?

I took my son at 10 months and alternated between the stroller and the carrier (several carriers actually, lol). Sometimes I think he was more comfortable in the stroller (plus, in the summer, I'm sure you'll both want your space so you don't overheat).

That was probably the best disney trip in some ways. It was easy because he didn't argue or talk back, lol.

The biggest problem I see for you though is the other two being mad!!!

Well that's what I worried about. The older two being upset about not getting to go. But we live in Florida and they've been several times. I talked with my DH about it and he said maybe we could plan a 1 night weekend trip for after they get back since we're renewing our APs.

I have two different carriers. A RS and a tula (soft structure carrier). The tula is very comfortable with her weighing almost 17 lbs now. But I can see us both getting hot in July like that. I think I'm going to plan to take mid afternoon breaks to the resort though. I got a decent price for CR with magic maker for $586. The convenience of being on the monorail with a toddler is wonderful. I only plan to do MK and EPCOT. I didn't think she'd enjoy AK or HS as much and DH and I really enjoy EPCOT.

I think because Epcot is bigger it always seems less crowded to me. There are plenty of places for a little one to stretch their legs (well, my son walked ridiculously early.). But EPCOT has always been my sons favorite.

Well she will have just turned one. She's 9 1/2 months now and has been pulling up to stand for almost 2 months now and just recently started using her toy to walk with. So we'll see if she's fully walking by then.

The Contemporary is great with a little one! There is a beach area that is a lot of fun for them to play in the sand. The splash pad is a lot of fun too... There are some smaller splashes that my dd enjoyed at 1. I would suggest a character meal at Chef mickeys or Ohana. At 1, my dd was completely fascinated and it was really nice getting a great family photo.

How is Ohana? Never done that one. We have done chef mickey's breakfast. I think I'll try to get that one. I was interested in seeing how ohana is though.

I would look at an Epcot resort then. It really won't make a difference to your little one which park they are at but it's a great opportunity for you and your DH to do what YOU want to do.

There are lots of a/c attractions as well which will be so important in July. The Beach Club pool has an awesome sand bottom and shallow area with a beach for little ones to play.

I like the idea of being on the monorail system. Plus we plan to go to MK as well.
