First trip....Feb 2012....Polynesian....Yay!

I wear flip flops in the parks. Heck, I wear cheap Walmart flip flops in the park. :lmao: I take sneakers, and I make DD take sneakers, but we both wear the floppers. :thumbsup2 She knows the first time she complains, it's sneakers the rest of the trip. But the girl HATES sneakers with a passion. She'd live in flip flops or dress shoes if I let her.

And for me ... I wore them in 2010 with no issues and then again in 2011 (but got some blisters). I'll be wearing them again in March! :woohoo: (And the same pair ... they've held up for several years now!)

Love your flip flops! I dunno if I could do wedges ... but they are adorable!! :cloud9:

Those are really awesome!! You did a great job! ;)

And i love your flip flops - I wish I could wear them in the parks!

D~

Thanks. Not sure if I can wear them in the parks or not since I haven't been in 20 years, but I wear them from May-Oct here every single day. Thats why I have so many colors....like my mommy, I have to have my shoes match my outfit, so I have to have lots of colors :)

Thank you. I have to do wedges. My back aches wicked if I don't. Not sure what thats about, but I also have a bunch of Teva Mush sandals (same thing but flat) and I love them if I don't have to stand or walk alot that day. The flats just don't give me the support I need I guess. Glad to hear you wear them. I see them in alot of pics on here, so I know I'm not the only one. I just hope its warm enough to wear sandals!

I made some Mousekeeping tip envelopes this weekend. Not too fancy, but I couldn't see spending alot on something the cleaning ladies would just open and throw away. I thought they came out cute :)

The Minnie and Daisy ones are my favorite. I guess I had better sticker of those two. Now to just put the money in them :)

I also found some great t-shirts for DS at Target over the weekend. I actually found one with Chip n Dale on it! Yay! I think we are all set for the t-shirts now. I went to Joann's to try to find a hawaiian print fabric to put on my white hoodie, but I guess I have something in mind that they just don't have out there. I have looked EVERYWHERE for what is in my mind and I just can't find it. I did get something that I think is pretty, so I will make the sweatshirt and post it soon.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. It was very nice up here in Maine. Hubby took DS ice fishing for the first time and they had a blast. Not my thing to go run around on the ice all day, but I got a good shopping day in :)

I totally love the envelopes! Very creative and very adorable! :cloud9:

The Mousekeepers are going to love them!!!!

Thanks everyone! I had big plans for much cuter ones, but in the end I just have too much to do. These will do the trick and hopefully put a smile on the CMs faces.

Cuter? I think they're perfect! The CMs are going to ADORE THEM!!!! :cloud9:

CHeck out that ticker!!!!! Whoot - your trip is getting soooo close!!!

Love the mousekeeping envelopes - so adorable... I haven't even thought about that yet... Too much to do, soooo little time.

So, what exactly are you planning to do to your sweatshirt??? I bought one the other day to reconstruct, as well. ;)

I don't know D~. It is just a plain white french terry hoodie with a full zip. I wish I had though that through as it leaves me little room on the sides. I can't put the mickey head in the middle like on my Ts. I am going to try to find a smaller mickey head so I can fit it on better. I originally wanted to spell out P-O-L-Y underneath it too, but I think that may be beyond my talents. And I will be more apt to wear it again if it just has Mickey on it. I have another hoodie in black that I may do another animal print guy on. I love the black T, so I think I will try it. Not too sure how that will work because this hoodie is a waffle weave material and I'm not sure the mickey will stick. If I knew how to sew I would be all set. Just another thing to learn when I get back so I can do some cute bags like Ms D~ :worship:

Oh, and I found a jean skirt I don't really love that I am going to try to put one on. Yay! I am gonna be stylin'!

OK, so how about this for the hoodie - rather than doing the Mickey head on the front - why not do one on the back? Just a thought, if it's what I am picturing it to be, it should work.

Can't wait to see the T and the jean skirt! :lovestruc

Yep, and that is why you are D~ and I am me. Brilliant! I never even considered putting him on the back...DUH! And that way I can have a bigger piece of fabric too :yay: Ooh ooh and maybe I can somehow spell out POLY in little letters for the front where I would've put the mickey. I might be able to use my scrapping letter punches and punch out the fabric and the Stitch Witchery all in one punch. Oh now I can't wait til I get home. Thanks D~!

Anytime, glad I could help... I'll bet you could spell out the Poly. :)

D~

Oh, and if you put the Mickey head on the back, just make sure you note where the bottom of the hood falls on the back, so when you are wearing it, the hood doesn't cover the Mickey head... Make sense? ;)

 Yeah, I think I can figure that one out!

And I already thought of that surprisingly enough :)

Ok, need a little AK advice. The last time I went about 20 years ago AK was not there. So I have never been. Looking at the map and trying to loosely plan out our day....

The train that goes to Rafikis Planet Watch: is that section worth doing? I can't see anyone in our party being excited about the Habitat Habitat or Conservation Station. But I think DS would enjoy the petting zoo area. But is it really that much different than other petting zoos? It looks out of the way and like it would take up alot of time. If we have plenty of time that day, I will definitely make it, but if we are cutting things close, do you recommend we skip it?

AK is one of my favorite parks (okay, they're all my favorite parks)!

Here's a bit more info on taking the train:
The train ride can show some "behind the scenes" areas where animals are kept.
The walk up to the Conservation Station has animals, as well as an activity for kids (the name of the activity escapes me, but the kids get a membership like card and collect stamps; I'll have to check my May TR.).
There's usually a CM near the animals talking about them (just informative).
Inside Conservation Station, they can sometimes have animals out to learn more about and photo ops (we met an owl in 2010).
Inside, there could be characters (we've met Jiminy, Pocahontas, and Rafiki).
Inside, they have working vet labs (we saw a monkey getting a check-up last year).
They have several animals on display inside (reptiles and the like).
They have several viewing areas where you can watch them weigh food for animals (and ask questions).
The petting zoo is just a typical petting zoo. It's smelly and the animals are pretty much the same.
We spend less than an hour there.

We enjoy it, but not sure if we'll do it this trip. It's one of those, you never know what you'll see, experiences. If you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer, or another DISer can chime in with their experiences! :goodvibes

We orde the train out on our last trip, but we basically got off and boarded right back on... We didn't have enough time to do it.

Here's the difinitive guide on Stitch Kingdom - it tells you in detail all about it and about how long it takes to go through it and the best times to see it. :)

D~ <---- BTW, we love AK too...

Thanks ladies. I guess I won't rule it out, but it will go on the "if we have time" list. Not sure how early we will get there since this is the morning Mom & Dad are getting there. And we have a 5pm ADR at Kona, so we can't stay all day.

We typically grab our KS FPs and then hop the train. :thumbsup2
