First trip ever! All Stars Resort or Pop?

Hmm. Do they tend to stay more in the Sports section of All Stars? This might make me switch to Pop now... LOL.
From what I've gathered in my research and info from others when I was first booking, anywhere depending on availability, but yes I think Sports is the first option

Honestly I am yet to stay at any AS due to overlapping sports events lol.
So far I'd rather just avoid, my husband is a very light sleeper so trying to reduce that chances of sports group whilst staying in budget is my preferred option!

I've stayed at Pop and the AS resorts.

We're staying at AS sports in January because it's about 1/2 the price of POP.

I love Pop, and would stay there again if the price was better. Sports is like a motel 6, but with a football icon and no coffee pot. It's not bad- but it's definitely NOT the same as staying somewhere with a nicer food court, a coffee pot, and better transportation.

I stayed at Movies during that event last year and didn’t have any issues. It also is college age so it’s not like Pop Warner when the resorts are overrun with young cheerleaders.

I have stayed at both Pop and the new rooms at ASMo. The rooms themselves are so similar that I can’t really say one is better than the other. Leaving that out of the mix, I would say the biggest difference to me would be the Skyliner. If you are OK with buses, save the money and book All Star. If you are planning a lot of time at Epcot/DHS and like having transportation options, stay at Pop. My room at ASMo was as close to Music’s buses as Movie’s, so I would just get on whichever one came first.

I actually have two Pop trips scheduled for fall and winter, when I think the temps in the Skyliner will be pleasant, and an ASMo trip planned for next May when it will be a lot warmer and the AC on the buses will feel good.

YES it is worth it.

POP is a great resort and now has the skyliner.

Music is our least favorite value resort and honestly would stay offsite before I'd ever stay again.

I stayed at POP my first trip, we've been to All Star Movies 3x and are going a 4th in November. I love Movies!!! Pop DOES have the skyliner now, but is that worth the extra $??? I prefer MOVIES food court, too...I never shared busses with Music or Sports on any trips, all of which were in September. Next to Riverside, its my fave and Ive stayed at a few.

They dont have AC in the skyliners? Whew, summer=stinky.

"Worth it" is so subjective. What is $250 worth to you?

Pop is absolutely a "nicer" resort - more amenities, better location, all refurbished rooms. All Stars are, to me, absolutely a fine choice as well. Movies is preferable because of the renovated rooms, but they're all fine for a place to crash after a long day at the parks.

If you don't spend that $250 on upgrading to Pop, what could you do with it? Would you upgrade single-park tickets to hoppers? Would you do a special tour (could both go on Key to the Kingdom tour and have money left over)? Would you do a fireworks dessert party? Would you book Disney After Hours and enjoy snacks and low wait times for an evening? Would you like to treat yourself to table service meals not ordinarily in the budget?
