first trip do-over

the proposal.....i haven't had a lot to post on here so i thought i'd post a couple pictures from when my wonderful husband proposed. why would i put that on here, a place for all things Disney? well, because we got engaged at Magic Kingdom!!! it was one of the best days of my life! he said so many sweet things that i do not remember because i was so busy crying. people clapped, cast members congratulated us and i totally spent the rest of the day looking at my ring and not fully enjoying being at Disney! but....so worth it! ;) we went into the Christmas store and got an ornament with our names and the date on it. they wrote just engaged on it too. when we picked it up, one of the cm's saw what it said and started looking at my ring and calling other cms over and asking when he proposed, etc. Disney is THE best place to get engaged! i sometimes wish we would have gotten married there....but anyway, on to the pictures!

now it's 10 years later, but seems like yesterday.....

That is such a sweet story! I love it! I think that is the perfect place to propose! I also wish I would have gotten married at Disney! I also wish I would have done the college program, oh well you can't go back right?

Thanks for sharing!

i tell ya, it was so much fun. He kept asking if we could go take a picture on that bridge and I'd forget, then it was raining, then there was a line. Finally, we came out of haunted mansion and I started over to splash mountain and he literally drug me over to the bridge. I was all "we can take a picture anytime. Come on!! Splash mountain!!" And he was all "picture! Now!" Poor guy just wanted to propose and I was ruining his plan. My mom was with us and knew all about it. She said it was all she could do to not scream at me to get to the bridge! I was oblivious, clearly!

We've always said that for one of our anniversaries we'd renew our vows in Hawaii on the beach (we honeymooned there), but sometimes I think maybe we should do it at Disney.

I didn't even know about the college program until just a couple years ago. I would have loved that. But you're right, can't change the past. Maybe I can get the girls to do it and live through them. That's why you have kids, right?:rotfl:

This reply is meant to address the coffee problem. You can buy at most grocery stores Starbucks VIA packets. They are pretty darn good and are great in a pinch. Not too expensive, super compact, and can be used anywhere. I think they even have a cold brew option for mixing with bottled water/milk. Hope it helps!

Oh my gosh!!! My husband loves those via packets! In fact he has some at work right now. I can't believe I didn't think of that before. Thanks for the idea. That's going on the must pack list right now!

What a cute proposal story and I love the pictures!

That would totally be me too though. I'd be trying to drag DBF off to the next attraction and oblivious to the plan! :rotfl2:

Glad it all worked out magically though! :goodvibes

awwww, thanks! I love to tell the story but after 10 years don't get to do it much anymore. And it was fun to look at the pictures again and share them on here.
I know-we'd been talking about getting married but I didn't think he'd propose at disney. I just wanted to go on splash mountain! I'm glad he drug me over though! :rotfl: I do remember that we did go to splash mountain afterwards and I just looked at my sparkly ring the whole ride until we went down the hill. I'm such a goof.....

mail!.....several weeks ago, the girls started coloring princess coloring sheets I printed off the internet. we mailed them off to Disney world and today, the girls got princess mail!! they were excited when my DH said they had mail and they were even more excited when they found out it was from princesses! :cloud9:
if anybody has seen this on pinterest or where ever and wondered if it worked, or what you get back, here is a picture of the postcards they got

[

we also sent pictures and little notes to Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Minnie at Disneyland. I had read that you will get a black and white picture if you send a letter to a character at the Disneyland address. we'll see if we get anything!

That is so fun! We got a thank you note the other day from Mickey and DD keeps it in her purse, lol! I bet your girls were really excited! Those special little touches from Disney make it so worth the cost of going there!

I know, right? I love getting Disney mail! That's cute that Charlotte has her mail in her purse! Hannah and Maddie both put the cards on their dressers so they could see them while they fell asleep.

Aw that is such an awesome idea! Is it bad that I kinda wanna do it?:rolleyes1

Heck no! I may have been more excited then the girls were last night. :hyper: I was so impatient when the girls were coloring so carefully and taking their time. I wanted to get those in the mail to see what would come back! I'm crossing my fingers we get something fun from Disneyland too!

just in case.....last year when we went to Disney, I was very worried about the girls wandering off or getting lost in a crowd. I didn't know about the temporary tattoos you can get before our trip, so I spent some time looking on etsy for a bracelet or something with my cell number on it, just in case. I ended up making a bracelet with our girls name on it and my cell phone number. I ordered a glass bead Minnie head with a flower on it and got some beads and ribbon from a make your own crafts studio here. they turned out pretty cute and the girls loved them. of course, the one day I forgot to put them on the girls was the day our oldest got swept up in the crowd leaving from turtle talk and got lost. I had a minor stroke while we looked for her, but bless her heart, she found someone with a nametag and was just telling them she was lost when my husband found her. worst less than 5 minutes of my life.....:scared: anyway, here's a picture of one of the bracelets

putting these in the bag of things to pack right now!

Finally joining in!

I went in January pretty much the exact same dates as you and I really liked it! The Christmas/New years crowds seem to have left so everything was very managaeable! We also got great weather; I wore shorts or capris every day except for one day where I needed jeans. I always carried a sweatshirt with me in case I got chilly and only really needed it a few time (and that's because I get cold VERY quickly haha)

Pick A Pearl is awesome, I think your girls would really enjoy that!

Your girls are so cute and I love the ribbons you are making :)

And oh my gosh, those proposal pics <3 that is so wonderful!

Can't wait for more updates!

yea! Glad you found me! I'm glad to hear you had a good experience going in January. Not that I want winter to get here (or the 100 degrees we have today) but I can't wait for our trip to get here!

Those bracelets are a great idea! I can only imagine how awful a feeling that must be.My sister wandered away from me and my dad once in the mall when we were little and my dad was losing his mind! :crazy2: But what a smartie that she did the right thing when she got separated from you!

But what a smartie that she did the right thing when she got separated from you!

i know! Even though I was freaking out, then mad, then relieved, I was very proud of her for doing what we've always told her to do if she can't find us. I guess she really was listening all those times we were repeating ourselves! :goodvibes

That's a great tip! I am totally going to have to keep that in mind for our trip! Getting separated from one of you DD must have been really scary! At least you know she was listening to you!

i was pretty impressed that she actually did what we're always telling her. She's one smart cookie! ;)

more ADRs?.....while I was reading others TRs this morning, I kept seeing things about chef mickeys. It made me think about when we went to our first ever character meal there and our oldest falling in love with goofy. I looked over our reservations so far and realized we still had table service credits I hadn't used yet. My best friend has always told me that we need to try breakfast there, so i thought i'd give it a try. I really didn't think that I'd be able to get a reservation now, but I DID!! I'm so excited! :woohoo: It must have been my pixie dusted magical day, because I also got a 4pm table at t-Rex for the day we arrive. Perfect for us because it will feel like 5pm to the girls and almost time for dinner! I tried for a table there on our 180 day and after and could never get in, but did today. I really LOVE Disney!
So I've pretty much decided to scrap our breakfast in the room plans. Now our breakfasts look like this:
Monday--beignets at POFQ
Tuesday--crystal palace
Wednesday--(my birthday!) ohana
Thursday--chef mickey's
Friday--grab something at starring rolls. It's our last day at the parks, why not have a delicious cupcake for breakfast, right?
I think that's all I'm adding. Everything else still looks and sounds good and there are several new things we're trying, so I think we're good on ADRs now. I hope so anyway! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on Chef Mickey's. We really enjoyed our breakfast there last year, even if more for the characters than the food. Your schedule looks great, enjoy.

thanks! We're happy with it so far. Hopefully the last thing we'll add is the fireworks and dessert party. Can't wait for the trip to finally get here!
