first trip do-over

Yay for Chef Mickey's! We're planning to eat there for breakfast on our trip and I'm totally excited! :cool1:

I think you will be happy you added on a breakfast at Chef Mickey's it really is lots of fun! You never know about those "hard to get" ADR's, persistence really pays off! Glad you got some good times that work for you!:thumbsup2

Hello again! Joining in on your PTR too!

A trip do-over sounds like a great idea! I kind of felt the same way after me and DH's first trip together. I had gone all the time as a kid and my parents never did any research and it was always fine. I did some minor research, but nothing like I've been doing for this trip. We ended up not even being able to make it through the full day our first day, and we left early on our second day. We thought we had done everything, and we were tired and our feet were achey and sore, and my DH was miserable about the crowds (went during Spring Break). I really felt like we needed to try again for a better experience, even though it was a good enough experience that we did want to try again!

At Epcot, you must try the School Bread in Norway, if you like Boston Cream Donuts, you'll love it. So yummy! And the apple strudel in Germany is delicious as well. And just about anything from the bakery in France!

The hair ribbons and pettiskirts you made for your girls are so cute! I kind of want them!

I love your paper chain countdown! So colorful, and what a fun way for the kids to see how much waiting is left!

Your plans sound super fun! I think that with the low January crowds you are going to have an amazing trip. Can't wait to read more!

yay! thanks for joining in! your DH and mine sound like two peas in a pod on the crowd thing. I know we never used to do any research, just went and worked our way around the park and did what we wanted when we got to it. I don't know why it's changed so much, but I wouldn't go without a plan now, especially with kids! but, that's ok with me--the planning and making reservations and changing stuff makes it seem real to me and I love to do it! :lovestruc

thanks for the snack info in epcot. I've heard the school bread is delicious and I love a boston cream, so it's going on the list for sure! we may end up using all our snack credits eating our way around WS! :lmao: thanks goodness there's a bus to take us back to our hotel when we're all sleepy and stuffed with food!

thanks! I love sewing for the girls. I have a few other things to make, so i'll post pics when I get them done. I know--i'd love to make a pettiskirt for myself, but I doubt my DH would let me out of the house! :rotfl: they do look like good twirling fun though! I do have one ribbon for my hair on the trip, but it's just a ribbon, no fun, BIG bow for me. I love bows in the girls hair though.

I don't know who likes the countdown more....me or the girls. I like that they know "when the paperchain is done, we go to Disney!" but I get as excited every night when we tear off a chain as they do! I don't know what we'll do when we get back and don't have any chain on the wall anymore! (yes, I do know--start another countdown for our Disney cruise! :rotfl2:)

i'm excited to try going in January! i'm a little nervous about the tour groups I've read about, but even so, we can't wait!

Subbing - Just found your TR while reading Danimaroo's TR. Looking forward to reading about your plans. :cheer2:

I am also going to be going to WDW in Jan and also staying at CBR. This will be our second time staying at CBR. We stayed there back in 2006 and it was really nice and our first time ever staying on prperty. We will be there one week after you get back. We arrive on Jan 17th and leave on Jan 25th. :thumbsup2

Okay so I just read through the whole PTR and I realize that you are now staying at POFQ. We stayed at POR in 2011 and LOVED IT!!! We were supposed to be in Alligator Bayou but they ended up putting us in the mansions. My mom was NOT pleased until we walked into our newly refurbished rooms and LOVED them. I totally wanted to stay at POR again this trip but my niece who is going to be turning 16 really wants to stay at CBR and we are celebrating her birthday so we let her pick. And really like others have said who cares where you stay as long as it's AT Disney!!! :cheer2:

LOVE all the sewing you are doing, the outfits and bows are SO cute.

Love your paperchain. I am going to make one that starts at our 100 day mark. Too much before that and the kids will drive me bonkers.

Nice haul from Party City. All that Disney stuff looks really cool. :cool1: I was going to say you can pick up glow bracelets at Target in the dollar section almost year round. I buy tons of them and we decorate the stroller and give them to the kids, pass them out to kids near us at parades, etc. They can also put 2-3 bracelet together and make a necklace. :thumbsup2

Anyway looking forward to reading more of your plans as it gets closer and closer. :)

Hi!! i'm so glad you found me! Aren't Dani's TR's awesome? I love reading her stuff!

I'm so excited to stay at POR. We are doing a royal room--so fancy! princess: Our oldest now declares she doesn't like princesses anymore, just superheroes. But I think she'll change her tune when we get there. Our youngest can't wait to stay in the "tiana room". We love princess and the frog and she's being tiana for Halloween so when I old her our hotel was like where tiana lived she was about to burst! I would love to stay in CBR sometime. I just wanted to do the royal rooms before the girls really were over the princess thing. But you're right-any Disney stay is good!! :)

I'm excited to talk to someone who's also going in January. Have you been there at that time before? I'm hoping for low crowds!

Thanks--I like to sew for the girls. Figure I should do it before they think thats too embarrassing. I just got some more fabric to make the rest of their outfits so hopefully I'll have more pictures to post soon. I promised a friend I'd make a dress for her daughter so I need to finish that first.

Thanks again for following along!

I am totally looking forward to Dani's next TR and to see how she likes Disney in Sept. :)

I have been trying to read about and connect to anyone that is or has been in Disney in Jan. We have always gone at the end of Sept so going in Jan is a totally new experience. I am not totally thrilled about going over the MLK weekend because from everything I have read it is crazy busy and that will be our first 4 days that we are there. :( Hoping for good luck that it is not too bad. We are going to celebrate two birthday's while we are there, my sister's DD's. One niece will be turning 10 on Jan 20th and the other will be turning 16 on Jan 25th. Should be fun and they are SO excited to be in Disney for their birthday's. Hopefully they will get lots of pixiedust: while we are there.

The rooms we stayed in at POR were Tiana rooms but they were not the Princess rooms. We just had scenes from Princess on the Frog on the headboards of the beds and a picture on the wall. I bet staying in a Princess Room will be a blast.

Anyway looking forward to more updates and pictures. :)

Just got caught up on your trip report - love you sewing and crafty touches. I think a trip do over sounds great. In AK plans you mentioned something about a coffee place? Can you share more? My honey loves coffee especially Kona coffee - as a matter of fact our dog is named Kona. She was a little black bean - before the monster German Shepard she is now. My fiance is NOT a line or crowd person either, so I am trying to figure out every trick I can to make it less painful for him.

The place I saw in AK is Kusafiri coffe shop & bakery. Its in the africa area, i believe. We've never been there but the pictures of things I saw online looked yummy! At the Polynesian resort there is also the Kona cafe. Again, we haven't been there, but they have a French press pot of kona coffee. I've seen mixed reviews of it though so I'm not sure how good it would be. You've probably already heard that Disney doesn't have the best coffee. Someone suggested taking those Starbucks Via packets. They have them for cold or hot coffee. We are for sure packing those!

I love your dog's name! Besides loving hawaii (we honeymooned in Kona!), we call our dog "bean" (even though her name is Jill) because when she was a puppy and curled up to sleep she was the exact shape of a jelly bean. :)

Oh--more coffee info--there are a lot of carts in Epcot where you can get coffee and espresso. My husband loves them when we're there. We have an app on our phone (Disney world magic guide) that has them on the park map. If he's looking for some coffee (to make him happy while waiting in one of those lines--you know, husband bribery!) there are quite a few of them.

Just catching up. Those bracelets are a great idea. Our first morning in the MK I forgot to put DD's bracelet on her and I was convinced that was the day something scary would happen. Thank heavens it didn't! I think I really would have a heart attack!

I love the countdown chain, and shirt decals! I h have been scouring pintrist for good countdown ideas, and your chain is one of my favorites!

I also love the clippies!

I love that you guys are dong a do-over. My husband and I also HATE crowds, but love Disney! We talked about January, but decided early May wasn't so horrible last time so we would give it another go. I look forward to seeing what else you have planned!

Welcome!! Glad you're here! It's been kind of quiet over here but I'll post more the closer we get.

I love the iron ons--I found them on etsy (missmorgandesigns.com). She has all sorts of cute stuff. I found some tshirt ideas on Pinterest too but decided to do iron ons this time. Gotta love etsy and Pinterest! :lovestruc I'm on there way too much!

Thanks-I like making stuff and being a little crafty. I had to make a countdown because the girls would ask all the time how much longer it was until Disney. Now they know when the paper chains are gone, we leave! I wanted to use the Mickey shaped paint chips they had at Home Depot, but they don't carry the Disney paint any more, so no more samples. :(

Well, welcome again! I'm glad your here!

The paper chains are so cute. Since my little one is not little - 13- he has a countdown app on his phone. Sigh. But there is still that little kid joy in there some where since he tells me how many more days every day in the car on the way to school.

Thank you for the site! I will check it out. I used iron ons lasts year and was really nervous about it because I have never used them before, but our shirts turned out great. The iron ons even worked on the polo I bought for my husband!

I can't wait to see your other crafts!

that's so cool! i'd love to put an app on my phone for that! I nanny two boys, one of whom is 13--it's so hard when they want to be so cool and grown up, but still feel like a little kid sometimes.

no problem--I haven't gotten the iron ons yet, but when I do i'll post on here how they worked. I've actually done lots of different ones for stuff and have always had good luck, so I am hoping for more of the same with these.

I can't wait to see them! Our decals were similar, but from "arewethereyet" designs. There is a little picture of hem here:

Are you doing any countdown celebrations? I Am hoping for some ideas!
