An earlier thread about the location of OKW got me wondering. If I left the lobby of BWV and someone else boarded the bus at OKW (southpoint) at the same time. Who would get to SE first? In the morning from BWV you have to walk thru WS to FW (don't get me wrong, I love walking in an almost empty Epcot). But I think are perceptions make the walk shorter than the bus ride. Obviously, later in the day it's a different story. Has anyone timed this? just curious.

I measure the distance from the BW lobby to SE to be 3/4 mile longer than the distance from the Epcot bus stops to SE. Should take most people about 15 minutes.

If someone were the last passenger on the bus at the last stop at OKW, I think they would get off the bus at Epcot in less than 15 minutes. But if they are just getting on the bus at the Southpoint stop, there's no way they are getting off the bus at Epcot that quick. Walking is quicker.

But it doesn't matter how they are getting to Epcot. What I think you really mean is how far is it from the International Gateway versus the main gate? I can take the bus from OKW at the Hospitality House or any stop, disembark the bus, clear through Security and still have to wait at the rope.

And since the rope drop is just outside Spaceship Earth, the guest entering from the main gate is going to beat the guest entering from the International Gateway.

Based on the original question, I think it does matter how they get there. If you get on the bus at Southpoint, it's going to then stop at Turtle Pond, then at Millers Road, then the Hospitality House, then finally on the road to Epcot. If you are walking from Boardwalk, you just start walking. You could wait 20 minutes for the bus at OKW, adding more time.

But the bus could have a flat tire, there be an extra long line at security at the IG with only one WDW Security checking. All sorts of variables.

If you mean best case scenerio, not having to load any wheelchairs or scooters, everyone get right on the bus or no one gets on at the next stops so the bus stops and goes immediately, the light is green at Bonnet Creek Parkway, there aren't any buses waiting to go through the parking lot entrance, no buses waiting at the bus stop, etc., it could be a lot shorter.

My hunch is you do more walking from BWV, but (on average) you probably do more waiting to get on the bus from OKW.

(But, you wouldn't want to go on SSE first thing in the morning when the park opens and everyone stops there first.....)

Is there going to be a Great American DVC race from OKW vs BWV in our future?

I would rather walk through an empty World Showcase to SE than board a bus and enter through the main gate! Not that you asked my opinion!

Another way to put it, if you have friends staying at OKW and you are at BWV, and you want to meet at SE, have them call you on a cell when they get picked up. That way you can leave and meet about the same time (if all goes well on the bus side). If its an ADR at Japan or France-tell thim after they wait for the bus, make the OKW stops, ride to EPCOT, walk to the entrance, get through security, and enter the park to give you a call. Should be a about right.
