First Timers: The Good, The Not Good & The Magical--Days 1,2,3,4 PHOTOS!!

Absolutely love your pictures. You make me want to be there! And as for Boma, I also didn't like it. We were there last year during a thunderstorm. I just was unhappy with it. I  didn't like the zebra domes either. I can't wait to hear about your dining! Thanks for sending me here, love your report!:goodvibes

Glad to hear I'm not the only "don't like Boma person" out there. I'll post more of my trip soon.

Two years ago, we tried Boma's, it was our first trip down there since AKL had been built, and really liked it! Was looking forward to eating there again. However, last year was a different story. For some reason, none of us liked it that much. So my guess is that it might just depend on what they are serving the night you are there, IMHO whether one will like it or not.

Day 4

Change of Plans… Not going to MK again says DH!!

We slept in…… Just too tired, too sick (now I have the cold ds started with) and just too tired of crowds, busses and food courts.

The original plan was to go to MK in the morning while DH played golf. Well DH did not feel up to golf, and after our visits to MK the past days, we decided that MK was too much like DL, and since we go to DL a lot, let’s just skip it!!!

We all looked at each other and agreed Epcot was it!!! Fine with me, but we had ADR’s at Tony’s Town Square for lunch and I was worried we would not get lunch table service ADR’s at Epcot. BUT I made the call and got 12:30 lunch at Biergarten! I figured there would be beer, DH would be happy.

Off to the bus stop and we jump on a bus.

I love the quick ride to Epcot from POR. We got to Epcot about 10am, and the topiaries were up for the Flower and Garden Show. How cool!!! We looked around, took photos and walked toward the fountain area. Watched the fountain for awhile, then we ran off to get FastPass for Mission Space. Got passes for 2:30!

We found Club Cool, and tried all the soft drinks. My DH like Beverly, DS like the Japanese one, and I liked most of them.

We spent the rest of the morning walking around, looking at all the topiaries and flowers, and then headed toward Canada.

Now I am just :listen: "earning my ears" and all, but those are the most fabulous pics of Epcot I have seen! Wow Wow Wow!!! I feel like I am there. When were you there? Can't wait for more!!! :wizard:

April 1-5.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the photos. I am just getting back into photography after my dh gave me a new digital camera.

We had great weather and for our first time, I think we had a great trip. I wish I had been able to see more, but there is always next time!!!

Have fun.

Loving your trip report. And I love the pictures - can't wait to be there next month!! Looking forward to hearing more.

I hope to have the rest of my trip report and my dining report up soon. I have to go back to work, which is teaching high school math, so the next week will be nutty. Have to get the kids back into Algebra and Geometry!! AND we know how they fight math!!!! :cool1:

Thanks for all the positive input.

Thanks for sharing your trip; love your photo's also...they are "different"..in a good way!

Going to Epcot in a couple of weeks; can you tell me where that last picture is from? The Tinkerbell one?

Thanks :wizard:

That had the Tinkerbelle bird bath sculpture for sale in it. It was on the lagoon area walkway on the Future World side, near Canada. I just thought it was too cool, and I couldn't buy it as the shop would not open until April 5, the day I left. Maybe I can get it sometime soon.

Have fun at Epcot, such a great park!!!

I have a Nikon Cool Pix 7600. I love it and have just started figuring out all it can do!!

Glad you liked the photos.

We spent the rest of the morning walking around, looking at all the topiaries and flowers, and then headed toward Canada. Watched the O Canada movie, DS really liked this. We never made it back to England or France though. It was time to walk to Germany to get lunch. We headed over to Mexico, to see if the ride there had reopened, it hadn’t. We then headed to Norway, to maybe ride Maelstrom, this time it was 1 hour wait, no thanks, so we looked at the shop. Walked to China, there was some screening around the big blue building so I could not get a good picture. On to lunch in Germany!!

DSCN1071.jpg

We got to the Biergarten right at our ADR and were escorted to our table. We shared with a family of 4 and a solo gentleman from Germany!! He was speaking with the host in German, and the host ended up taking us to a table right by the dance floor. It was great! I was not looking forward to another buffet after the Boma fiasco, but DH and DS were excited. We ordered a beer flight DH an me, and DS got root beer. Headed to buffet and I was pleasantly surprised, all the food was great!! I liked it, hey!!! This was an unexpected treasure.

We enjoyed our meal for awhile then the band came out!! What fun. People were dancing, lots of singing, music and we were all happy.

After our fun lunch, we took the ferry back to Mexico and headed to our FastPass at Mission Space. From all I had read about this ride, we chose the Green, or less intense side. We had our own spacecraft; DH had to do 2 jobs, LOL. It was really a fun ride, and I think we could have done the more intense side.

After this, we looked around some more and decided to split up. DH had to get some work done, so he headed back to POR and DS and I headed to MK again!! Arrived just in time to see the end of a parade, jumped on the train and headed to Frontierland. We were hoping to get on the Haunted Mansion!! Got off the train, and hit another wall of humanity!! I guess it was the line for Splash Mountain. We fought through that, looked at each other and decided we needed popcorn!

DSCN1089.jpg

Got a snack and headed to Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. I miss that at DL, the Tarzan Treehouse just is not the same. We visited the Treehouse which was crowded and you really could not stop and look, just too many people in front and behind. As we left, DS called it a very scenic line!!

DSCN1093.jpg

We decided that we should go, and needed to get back to POR to go to DTD for dinner.

Headed to VMK Central to get our last quests turned in and get our last card. Jumped on the bus to POR and got to hotel at 5:45. Just enough time to change and go get in line for the boat ride to DTD for our 7pm ADR at Raglan Road. We had to wait for a second boat, but it was a fun ride and we got to DTD about 7pm.

Walked really fast to Raglan Road, got there at 7:15, not problem and were seated within 3 minutes. Fun place!!! We ordered our appetizers, beers (not for DS, he got iced tea), entrees and settled in for a fun meal. Everything was great and we were very full! Watch for my dining report on the meal, but this is a great place for dinner! As we were finishing up an Irish band started playing.

After dinner, we needed to do some shopping, headed to Lego store, Once Upon a Toy and the Pin Trading store. We looked around and did not buy much except some mickey backs for some of our pins! Visited with some pin traders outside and left to head back to the resort. Time for one last night time pool visit.

Exhaustion and the cold that DS had has migrated to me, causing us to shorten our pool time and we headed back to our room. Fell asleep quickly.

The Good: Mission Space and the Topiaries
The Not So Good: Missing out many of the attractions at MK. Will have to do DL soon.
The Magical: Our last minute lunch at Biergarten!!

It is a Disney online game, Virtual Magic Kingdom. It is free and you get to play games, earn credits and buy virtual things.

Fun game!

Boy, there is no sleep like Disney sleep. You hardly move or mess up the sheets. And the next thing you know, the phone is ringing....

Great installments! Looking forward to more! :thumbsup2

Day 5

Bye Bye Port Orleans Riverside

It is our last morning in Florida. We love the green, the humidity and the low elevation (we live in the desert at 7000’). DS wants to swim one last time, so to the pool at 9am. DH goes to get breakfast and coffee and we sit at a table at the pool and eat. DS plays in the pool until 10ish, then we have to go pack and get on the Magical Express at 11am.

We arrive at the front of the hotel at 2 minutes before 11, no bus!?! I ask and they said it left after 11am, hmmmmm my cell phone time said we were there before 11, oh well. We wait for the 11:30 bus and I run and buy some Mickey pretzels for the plane trip, Southwest doesn’t really feed us much!!! Finally we get on the bus and head to the airport. We check our baggage at curbside and go do some shopping at the Disney EarPort and the SeaWorld shop. Get some last minute things and head through security.

We leave sunny Florida at 2pm for our trip home! All is well at home, though it is cold and cloudy. We pick up the dogs on Friday, so we have some home cooked enchiladas and chili rellanos and watch our video from the trip!!

Recap of the Trip…

Thanks for the great trip report! I'll be there in 9 days and this report really got me excited. You have wonderful pictures and I thank for you sharing them.
