This is our first cruise, my husband and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Our daughter is graduating from High School, so this is her present also.
My questions are: We are a catagory 8, on the seventh deck, room 7000...anyone know anything about this deck and room...What about the noise? I understand this is at the back of the ship, will there be much motion?
The other question, our daughters boyfriend is coming along also...he is only 17, and we understand that he will not be able to attend any of the "adult" partys...he is 6 foot 5 and 280 IBS...do they actually card these kids?
And will they get bored? I don''t know if we chose the right ship or not..Our AAA rep. wanted us to take the Carnival Line, said they would have a better time...but we didn't..
Thanks for the input on this very much!!!!:)

We were on a cruise a few weeks ago and had a room on the seventh deck, aft. Noise was minimal - when the ship was sailing, I could hear what I presumed was the engines, but it was a low sort of hum, not at all intrusive. Very little motion, but seas were very calm. You knew you were on a boat - if you concentrated, you could feel a little bit of side to side motion, but again minimal. I didn't hear of people getting seasick, and I didn't, and I'm prone to it. I suppose rough seas could be different story. Sorry I can't address your questions about teen activities, as we didn't bring out teenaged children. I do know that teens have their own place to hang out - called Common Grounds - and there are activities specifically targeted for them. From what I heard, the teens who were on our cruise enjoyed it immensely.

Anny_c_99,

We were in room 7627 on the Magic about a year ago and we had major vibration the last evening of the cruise. If you have the opportunity to switch to mid-ship, go for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't sweat over it..although it was loud, we didn't really lose sleep over it.

Don't forget to check out the private deck in the back of deck 7.

We are sailing on the Wonder May 30-June 2... we miss you by one sailing.

Have a great trip!!
:)

Hi:wave:
A previous post mentioned laundry rooms, however I do not remember where they are located on each deck. With the search engine disabled maybe someone could mention where the laundry rooms are located again?

They do not card everyone at the door --- but kids that look under 18 will be asked to show their ID..... Also remember that if your 17 yr old guest is in the adult area and tries to use his card to purchase a soda -- they will be able to see that he is under 18 at that time.
:)

Stateroom 7000 is actually right at the front of the ship (forward) and not aft! On our last cruise, we were right across the corridor in 7003 and it was a great location - very quiet and I wasn't aware of any motion (we did have very calm seas). Nice and close to the forward elevators but not so near that you got traffic noise. Also very handy for getting to Quiet Cove Pool on Deck 9!

Can't comment on the teen carding, sorry.

Have a great trip and congratulations on your 25th anniversary!

We were on the Jan 5th cruise in room 7002, so right next door to the room that you are booked in. We LOVED the location so much that I am trying to get the same location (across the hall) for our cat 10 room next year.

Indeed it is very quiet, as there will be NO ONE passing your room to get to theirs since you are at the end of a hall, yet you are very very close to the forward elevators. You will find this to be convenient as the midship elevators are nearly always impossible to get onto but we never had a problem with the forward or aft elevators.

It's also convenient for adult activities, such as beat street or the quiet cove pool, but to tell you the truth, the ship was not as large as we expected and even having to go from one end to the other didn't seem like a particularly long trek.

As far as carding people, when we went to beat street one night there were these two boys in front of us. I looked at my husband and said "18? they don't even look 15." They really looked quite young. I was pleasantly surprised to see someone looking like a ship officer ask them for ID. Of course they had "forgotten it" upstairs, could they go in anyway? The officer politely told them that they needed to show some ID. As far as I can tell they didn't come back with their ID.

This was our first night in the adult clubs so of course I'm sitting here thinking I'm going to get carded also. I didn't have MY id either (not realizing that info like that was on the KTTW card). I'm thinking they card everyone, and I often get carded at bar type establishments even though I am 27. Well, the "bouncer" just welcomed us in without a problem, so I really don't think that it is the policy to card everyone, just people who obviously look (and maybe act) under 18.

I'm guessing that as long as the guy doesn't look like he doesn't shave yet and act in such a way as to disturb other guests with his immaturity that no one will have a problem with it. It would be kind of disappointing for your daughter and her boyfriend to not be able to do the same activities! As someone who is vehemently against having children in adult only areas, I would not have a problem at all with a mature 17 in this situation.

Hope that helps
Lisa

Lisa,
Thank you so much for the info. It sounds like we will have a great room, and a wonderful time... Thanks again!:)
