Hi there! Friends of ours are taking their very first trip ever to WDW with their 5 year old son 1/27/07-2/03/07. I've never been that time of year... what advice do you have for them?? :confused3

They are staying at CBR on the dining plan. Both Saturdays will be travel days only. I've told them all about Fastpass, child swap, EMH, etc. The DS is not into disney movies/characters, parades or fireworks so thankfully they won't have to worry about end of the day crowds, or an itineraries at all I think. :cool1:

Any advice would be helpful... im at a loss! :confused3

One thing they should be aware of is the weather: January/February weather in Orlando is unpredictable. It could be warm with cool mornings, or it could be near freezing in the morning with afternoons in the 50s.

So tell them to pack a little of everything!

Any hope of being able to swim? I did tell the DW that the pools are heated and there is a chance of there being a day warm enough to swim. I told her the weather would be similar to how it is here right now... we're in Central Massachusetts. At this time of year, the weather could be 80 one day and 50 the next.

Yes, there is a chance. I'd suggest if there are any warm days, take the opportunity and swim. The warm days may or may not last through the trip, so if swimming is important to them they should do it first chance they get!

We usually go during the first week of Feb. and as the previous poster stated, the weather does vary. I found the norm is, chilly mornings and nights, but we have been lucky because the afternoons were mostly nice, anywhere between 65-80 degrees when we have gone. Pack light jacekts, sweatshirts, and long pants as well as shorts and short sleeve/tank tops.

The pools are heated, but if it is chilly out, it is not any fun getting out of that pool! :scared1:

We like to go this time of the year because the crowds are lower. Plus, I'd rather chance it with some chilly weather versus really really bad heat and humidity.

I ditto the "pack a little of everything" statement. This January, it was very cold a few days and they quickly ran out of gloves/mittens in the Magic Kingdom and our hotel.

Other days, I was wearing shorts.

No way to know.
