Hello there everyone. I'm new here and would love to know about the Codes and how they work. We are planning a trip with my family in June 2006 and believe it or not this is our first time going to WDW. I have two daughters that are VERY EXCITED to experience WDW. We are planning to stay at the AKL and would love any information you can provide to us that would help our trip.

Codes have been very sparse lately and have been more for their packages than anything else. I would look into AAA because sometimes they can save you money. I would also decide on what kind of meals you want to eat, if it is alot of character meals and sitdowns, then the dining plan may save you money. Also there are 3 views at AKL. Standard, pool, savannah. Can your girls share a bed? If not you may want to request bunkbeds for them. What are their ages? If they are really young, you may want to consider staying closer to MK. Good Luck, you may also want to check mousesavers too.

If you belong to AAA you can most likely get a room only discount. This will be 10-15% off of the non discounted rate for the rooms. You can get this discount by calling Disney and asking for a room only rate, or by going through a AAA office. Other than AAA, there have been almost no room only discounts lately. If you plan on making more than one trip to disney within a 12 month period, you could buy an Annual Pass. They get decent room discounts, but often it is not worth it unless you plan on making multiple trips within a year, or are making one long stay.
You should look at mousesavers.com for more information about discounts.
Have fun, there is lots of information and it can get confusing.

Thank you very much for you help. I will look into the other website and keep om mind the information you have shared

Don't rule out one adult buying an AP. The "best rate program" can save enough on a room to pay for the AP and some. You will just have to crunch the numbers when and if the BRP becomes available for June. As mentioned keep an eye on www.mousesavers.com and this site.

I picked March 20 for a stay in a standard room at the AKL and came-up with a rack rate of $333.39 per night. The same thing with the BRP plan cost $185.09 per night which is over 40% off rack room rate. The savings is $148.30 per night with the AP plan.
If the BRP is extended make sure to keep an eye on it. I hope my above figures are correct.

:rotfl2: Gary thank you .. i'm still trying to learn the lingo .. what is BRP? and i'm assuming AP is an annual pass. Thank you again

best rate program

This should explain the BRP. This is taken from the WDW site.

Planning a vacation in a few months? Then it's time to try our Passholder Best Rate Program! Now Passholders booking a Disney Resort room online under the Passholder Best Rate Program at disneyworld.com/passholders can rest easy knowing they have received our best room rate offered to the general public* at that time for the room and nights booked. And, if we subsequently reduce our room rate to the general public for the same room and nights you booked online under this Program, we will automatically reduce your room rate to match that lower rate.

Now, new lower rates are available in January starting at $49 per night for select Value Resorts! These rates will be available most nights from January 16, 2006 - February 4, 2006.

Rooms must be booked at least 60 days in advance and, unlike our normal cancellation policy, a non-refundable deposit of 1-night's room charge and tax must be paid at the time of booking. Currently this program is only available for arrivals through April 13, 2006. The number of rooms and nights available for this Program is limited and rooms are not available every night. Rooms are available for most nights during the eligible arrival period. This Program is subject to change or discontinuance at any time and without notice.

For more details about the Passholder Best Rate Program, check out Frequently Asked Questions.

* Does not include group rates, auction rates or rates conditioned on group/club memberships or other specified eligibility requirements.

Renowned Disney service 24 hours a day
Spectacular pools
A beautifully themed Resort in the heart of the Disney magic
Complimentary Transportation (motor coach, water launch, or monorail) throughout the Walt Disney World® Resort
Important Program Requirements
Program only available to adult passholders booking online at disneyworld.com/passholders. Passholder may only book one room per reservation. Reservations must be made by adult Passholder with Passholder's credit card. Passholder must present his or her valid Pass at check in.

* Under this Program, Passholders receive the best room rate offered to the general public at that time for the room and nights booked. This Program does not include group rates, auction rates or rates conditioned on group/club memberships or other specified eligibility requirements. Additional per adult charges apply if more than two adults (18 or older) per room. Unlike our normal cancellation policy, a non-refundable deposit of one-night's room charge and tax must be paid at the time of booking. The number of rooms and nights available for this Program are limited and rooms are not available every night. This Program is subject to change or discontinuance at any time and without notice.

If there is a BRP rate available during your stay it will DEFINITELY be worth buying 1 AP to get the rate. The discount will more than pay for the AP. Just keep checking this site for when the new rates are released, and then consider asking someone to check on a rate during the dates of your stay.
