Hello! This is the first real (ie non quickie weekend last minute) trip my husband and I will be taking to WDW. We have a child who will be about 1.5 years at the time of the visit. We are making a lot of dining plans to use as built in breaks in the day and having a hard time choosing between a few options!

If you could do TWO of these four which would you choose:
Boma (dinner)
Cape May (dinner)
Coral Reef
Via Napoli (I’ve heard service is terrible- true?)

Also would you pick Narcoossees or BOG (once its pre-fix 2TS)? Is the former okay to bring a well behaved young child? Do you have a different 2TS you’d rec?

We have whispering canyon, Ohana (bfast), Kona (bfast), crystal palace, 1900 park (bfast), the wave, tusker (bfast), yak and yeti, sanaa, skipper, hoop de hoo, H&V, garden grill (bfast), and morimoto (lunch) on our list for the trip as well

I’d do Boma, Via Napoli and Tiffins (instead of Narcoossees). I haven’t had service at Via Napoli. We have had poor food at BOG.

Definitely Boma. Haven't done the other three (well, did CM for breakfast and it was good). We've done both Narcoossees and BOG several times. BOG will be noisier and more hectic. A well behaved child will be no problem at Narcoossees. We've seen both well behaved kids and children who were "struggling" to be well behaved there. Last time was for brunch and we had a good laugh about the kid who walked by us with dad holding his hands up in the air to keep the blue frosting from touching anything that he walked by! We've had decent to very good meals/service at both.

Side note-from Syracuse or an SU grad?

Wow- sounds like great dining!

I would choose Boma and Cape May. We enjoy the variety at buffets (and the crab legs at Cape May). Also, the dinners at a buffet can be quicker which may help having a little one.

I think a well-behaved child is welcome anytime! I've seen well-behaved toddlers and not so well behaved 10 year olds! I think that a 2TS restaurant may take about 2 hours if that would work for your child. Narcoossees does have an outdoor patio that you could take a walk with your child for a little break.

SU grad!

@holden didn’t even think to look at Tiffins! I’m looking into that now!

@pattyw good to know about the patio, thank you!

It's where you can watch the MK fireworks if you're there then. It's a nice spot to go when you're waiting to be seated, too!

Boma and Via Napoli. We haven't done the other two, but I would and have returned to these. We have had good service at Via Napoli the 3 times we have eaten there. Sometimes, you can see animals from the windows at Boma, and the food is good. Plus, it's a good excuse to visit AKL.

I'd do Boma or Cape May (not both) in addition to Via Napoli. Our VN visit was fine, good food and good service. I haven't been to Boma, but have been to Cape May and really enjoyed it. However, I've heard great things about Boma, and I didn't love Cape May so much that I'd definitely chose it over Boma. I'd take a look at your plans and the menus, and see what works best and which menu appeals more. If it helps, you can find menus for Cape May where they have the regular buffet rotation...if something you really want isn't there the night your ADR is for, well, that might help you with the decision.

I loved our lunch at BOG and loved seeing the inside of the castle, and have never been to Narcoossees. But I would not use two service credits for BOG's new pre-fix menu, I just don't think it's a good value. You're very likely to get a much better meal at Narcoossees, it will be much more relaxed (BOG will be busier as noted above), and well-behaved children are welcome!

Boma is a must. I would choose Cape May breakfast too, I think that's one of the hidden gems on the property. It's a great character experience. If you're a first-timer and looking for a blow-your-socks-off 2 credit experience, I'm a big fan of Cinderella's Royal Table. The food is pretty good but you can't beat eating in the castle and also meeting all the princesses! My girls have loved it, we've done it twice.

JMHO, but that looks like a lot of ADRs unless it’s a two week long trip or you’re on the Deluxe Plan.

Of those choices you asked about, I would pick Cape May and Coral Reef. If you dine at Coral Reef, you must order the Bailey’s mousse. It’s one of the most delicious things you can eat anywhere. Cape May is a long time family favorite.

We did not like Boma because everything we tried tasted like it was doused with cinnamon. Via Napoli does not appeal to me because I can get great pizza anytime steps from my home plus I’ve noticed that reviews are mixed, especially on service.

@JerseyJanice both haha its a 10 day trip and we have the DxDP! Trying to get our moneys worth and plan a TS B,L, D most days!

Sounds like fun, but you won’t spend many of your snack credits on top of eating three meals per day. Not to mention, you’ll be giving up a lot of park time.

When we got to do Deluxe, we did mostly 2 meals a day. Generally, 1 credit for breakfast or lunch and 2 credit meals for dinner.

I loved most of the 2 credit meals we did. Yachtsman, California Grill, Flying Fish and Artist Point. The only one we didn’t care for was Spirit of Aloha. If we were there any night, we would definitely have eaten at Narcoosee.

You cannot see animals from Boma.

I have to admit that we didn't see or look for them the one time we ate there. However, I thought the couple we ate with said that they had seen them when sitting by the window. Maybe it was far off in the distance or something. I thought I had read others saying that too. It could be a WDW myth, like the bus drivers like to perpetuate;)

You can see animals while dining at Sanaa, also at AKL (Kidani instead of Jambo), but Boma faces the pool at Jambo...same with Jiko.

That must be what I am thinking. We haven't done Sanaa yet.

Boma and Via Napoli would be my choices. Boma because it's so nicely reviewed by many and offers a variety of foods some of which are not the normal American fare. Via Napoli because it's a good pie. Don't opt for the slice window go sit down, get some A/C and enjoy.

Also would you pick Narcoossees or BOG (once its pre-fix 2TS)? Is the former okay to bring a well behaved young child? Do you have a different 2TS you’d rec?

Welllll....I'd probably opt to bring the well behaved child to Narcoossee's since in the future it'll be all about the character meals for at least 6 years ;).

Even if you can't see the animals at Boma , a nice walk on property after you eat (so you don't have to pull the young one away) will make for a fine way to digest and could serve as an "eye dessert" if you so desire:).

Like JerseyJanice, we often do the deluxe dining plan but tend to eat light Continental style breakfasts courtesy of snack points at the resort's food court: fruit, either whole or cut up, yougurt, split a pastry ( I eat low carb so let the man and DGD share it) and the refillable mug for free coffee, cocoa or tea. This saves our TS credits for mostly signature dinners and 1 TS lunches.
Oh and I forgot, the service at Via Napoli can be laughably hit or miss. I know what to expect and as long as my food is fine I ignore the rest;).
