I have been listening to the DIS podcast for a while now but this is my first post. I have been to WDW three times but normally it is just me and DH. In December, we are taking my nephews (9 and 11) for their first visit. :cool1:

This is our first time going in December and I have a couple questions. What is the weather like in December, and how long do they keep the holiday decor up?

I also have one question about rider swap -- I've heard about swaping adults but they will they allow use to swap kids? I don't do rollercosters and my DH is excited to finally have someone to ride with. I know the kids won't ride without DH sitting beside them so he may have to take them one at a time. Can we do that?

Any advice is helpful, thanks.

Welcome to the board! What a nice Aunt/Uncle you are taking your nephews!

Weather in December can be a toss up. I suggest packing for both hot and cool weather. We've gone and been fine in shorts and a sweatshirt at night and other times needed jeans and a jacket. Be prepared either way.

Decorations are up after Thanksgiving and come down in early January.

All four of you can go up to the CM at the beginning of the line and ask for a rider swap. They will give you a FastPass ticket and you and one nephew can sit while your DH and other nephew can ride. Then when they come back, just give DH the FP ticket and the other nephew can go. If the 1st nephew wants, they can go on again because the FastPass allows 3 riders. They may have to sit with someone else.

TestTrak allows 3 riders in one row so they can all ride together. Also the TestTrack photo can be uploaded to your PhotoPass (it's the only ride that does that right now). What a cool picture that can be!

You'll get lots of advice and great tips here. Good luck!

You just never know with December as far as weather goes. We went the 2nd week of December and it was 85-90 every day, even very warm at night.
However the day before we got there is only 65 and I heard the day after we left it was only 60. (it was really weird and I packed sweatshirts and mittens for nothing)

Welecome!!

www.wdwinfo.com is full of everything for December. We go every year in December and I am still full of questions every time and I amazed at all the info on the site!

Pack for all weather...It can be so warm you can swim in the day then at night you need sweaters because it is chilly.

JMO here - I have learned that no matter how prepared you are you are never dressed for the weather! It says hot so you wear shorts you get to the parks and your cold...so you have to buy a sweatshirt. I call it Disney December Magic! ;) Especially if you have little kids and they can't get to hot or cold! :cutie:
