We are leaving for a family "road trip" this weekend; we go to Disney every fall so we opted to avoid all things Disney this trip.

We have never been to Universal and are allotting one day to spend visiting the Wizarding World. We will be staying off-site. I'm looking for any tips I can get about absolutely anything from ticketing (our family of 6) to meals, to what to see and when....

Thanks!!!

You may have more luck posting this question and/or hanging out on the main Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure board.

Ticketing- my local AAA had the best prices on tickets ($145 for a 4 day hopper), slightly less than Undercover Tourist. Others have reported that some Costcos have tickets at a decent price as well.

There is a thread on dining which includes recommendations

We ate at, and enjoyed 3 Broomsticks and Mythos at IoA and Lombards at US as well as Bubba Gumps at Citywalk.

If you want to see the Ollivanders wand show, do it first thing. Line is very long and grows throughout the day. If there are more than 100 in line, I would recommend skipping it.

Try to utilize Single Rider Lines whenever possible if that works for your family. Sandwich any kids. One adult first, followed by the kids, followed by the second adult.

If you have a AAA card, you can get a 10% discount at most restaurants and gift shops within the parks.

Have fun!
