Hi Disboards, I hope that I am posting this in the right place, I searched around but didn't find the info I was looking for, it's probably out there somewhere and I apologize if this is a repetitive question.

January 2nd my family checks into a Savannah view Deluxe suite at Jambo in AKL, we've rented points and I am planning to place an order with Garden Grocer. What I am trying to find out is whether there is a full size fridge in the room? A microwave? A hotplate? Nothing? Can anyone tell me about the in room amenities or make suggestions on items to bring/buy to make our stay as comfortable as possible?

Any insight is appreciated, thank you!

Before anyone can answer your question, we need to know what size room you booked. You describe it as a "suite" but the only suites in Jambo House are not DVC rooms, they are hotel rooms that cannot be booked with points.

If you rented a reservation from a DVC owner, you will have a Studio or a 1 bedroom or a 2 bedroom or a Grand Villa. Let us know what exactly you have reserved and then we can tell you what is in that room.

The studios have a kitchenette. You will have a small under-counter refrigerator, a microwave, toaster and coffee maker. There are good photos of a Jambo House studio, including photos of the kitchenette, on the DVCnews site. Click on this link and then scroll down to the "STUDIO VILLA" section. (Click on any photo in the Studio section and it brings up a larger image, plus "Next" and "Prev" links so you can step through all of the Studio photos.) In the kitchenette photo the paper towel holder is empty but they do supply paper towels. Dishwashing liquid is also provided. http://dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts/animal-kingdom-villas/maps-a-photos-46503

You will have real mugs and glasses but only four paper plates, four paper bowls and enough plastic utensils for four people. I think there is also a paring knife. For studio stays I usually bring disposable plastic plates and bowls so that I can wash and re-use them (and then toss them on our check out day) and a couple of plastic leftover containers.

On one stay we did ask housekeeping for a couple of wine glasses. We tipped the housekeeper for bringing them up to our room. I cannot remember if there is a wine bottle opener since DH usually brings one and he would have used the one he brought.

A studio will have a mini fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker.

I just noticed that the floor plan that is shown in that group of photos is for a Kidani Village studio. They have a slightly different layout in the bathroom. I prefer the Jambo House studio's bathroom layout because the sinks are in an open area and only the tub and toilet are in an enclosed room. That means the sink/vanity area is always available even if someone is using the shower.

In the Kidani studios the sink/vanity and tub are together in an enclosed room with the toilet inside a smaller room within that space, meaning that if someone wants to shower in privacy the entire bathroom is not accessible to anyone else.

The Kidani Studio floor plan shows a small closet. Many of the Jambo House studios do not have a closet so everything (including the vacuum cleaner and ironing board) will be in the single armoire in the room. That is the one downside to Jambo House studios -- there is not a lot of space to hang up your clothes.

When asked if your luggage (or groceries) is going to AKV (should you not have the luggage tags) be SURE to say that it's Jambo you want. They too often ask this question and luggage goes to Kidani.
