Hi everyone! I just booked our trip in May and we are staying in a Ft Wilderness cabin. We are very very excited, the Fort looks like the perfect place for our family :)

My biggest question so far is transportation. We will be driving so we'll have our car. Would it be easier to just plan on driving to the parks each day? I keep reading that taking the extra bus to get to the Settlement area really takes a ton of time, and our time this trip is REALLY limited--we will only be at WDW for 4 days. Plus we were really wanting to come back to the cabin in the afternoon for lunch and a swim and to let the toddler take a nap, so we'll be going back and forth a bit.

We can't afford to get a golf cart, it sounds fun but not this trip!

Thanks for any advice!

I always drive to Disney. When you stay on property the parking is free which is excellent because you can save a lot of money. And i believe its more convinent to just drive. Have fun!!!!

Thank you! The last time we went to Disney it was just DD and I and we stayed at Boardwalk and took park transportation everywhere, so I've never tried driving around the World. I think that will be easier, especially since I'll be able to park right outside our cabin.

On a limited time budget and coming back and forth I'd definitely drive myself. Be sure to get a map of the World at check in.

Also keep in mind that parking at your cabin is just half the battle. When you get to a Park lot, you may be a long way from the entrance. You might just wind up using the time you saved by not using the busses in getting to the entrance....walking or tramming....and again when you leave. In 15 years we have never driven to a Park and have just fine with the drivers Disney provides.

We usually have our car and drive to the parks. Retired and happy is right that it can add to the time waiting for the tram but for us it has always been less time than waiting for a bus. Also we learned a couple years ago, and keep this quiet :thumbsup2, with AAA you can park almost at the gate. Easy to get into the park and great at days end to have a short walk.:cool1:

When we go, we take our motor home and pull our jeep. We take the boat to the Magic Kingdom and drive to the rest of the parks. :goodvibes
