What a fantastic board! I've already learned so much :thumbsup2

My question is about actually getting in to DLR. I've seen mention of ticket booths, security tables, turnstiles, rope-drops... and am trying to figure out what it all means :confused3 I'm the kind of person who likes to know what to expect ahead of time if I can.

We will be arriving in Anaheim this coming Monday :yay: We plan to get our tickets (pre-purchased 3 day hopper passes) Monday evening, for use Tues, Wed, Thurs.

We are thinking we will use our MM on Tuesday. If we already have our tickets, where do we line up? Thanks in advance!

We're staying at Hojo's, so we'll be walking.

If it is the same set-up I experienced a couple of years ago this is what you will go through...
  • Security - All bags are checked here.
  • Ticket Booths - You only need to visit them if you need to purchase passes. Since you will have them before you arrive you can just pass by the ticket booths.
  • Turnstiles - This is where you scan your ticket and get into the park.
  • Rope Drop - This will only be a factor if you arrive before/at opening time. They usually (always?) open the turnstiles before the park opening time to ease the crowds into the parks. They only let you get so far, however. Once you get to where the ropes are set up you will have to wait for official park opening time to go all the way into the park. At the official park opening time the ropes will be taken down and you are free to go wherever you'd like.

They will have certain turnstiles opened up for MM people. Lots of people will already be lined up for entry at park opening time. Just look at the signs and follow the castmembers directions.

They usually let people in early and hold them at the end of Main Street with a rope stretched across the street. Once the official opening time arrives, they pull the rope away and everyone enters. This is especially cool on early entry days, if you had early entry on your ticket, you are already in the park and watching the hordes behind the rope. It is a good feeling!!!!:hourglass

When we went on a Monday, they did not open the security check until 7:30 and turnstiles at 8. No rope drop. Tues was MM and we got there 7:20 so don't know if there was a rope drop. Also, on Wed we got there just a little after 8 so don't know about rope drop then either. But my point is, they don't always let you in on main street early.

Tip: Unless it is a MM, get in line 13. If line 14 opens up, line 13 people split into a choice of 13 or 14, thus making 13 go faster. (Line 14 has a tree in front of it preventing people from making a long line there. On the Monday we went line 14 was open, on a wed it was closed.

When park opening is at 8am there is no rope drop because they don't allow you into the park early like they do when the park opens later. When it opens 9am or later then they let people onto Main Street 1/2 hour before opening. It's nice because there are characters out and you can get autographs/pics and do some shopping along mainstreet. At the end of Main there is the rope which is dropped at the actual park opening.

You'll leave your hotel and then walk south down Harbor Blvd. You'll cross the street to go through the Disneyland entrance. You'll walk past trams and whatnot and then you'll get to the security tables where they check your bags and whatnot. After you pass the tables you'll be in the courtyard type area between the two parks (I can't think of what the area is called.) There will be ticket booths but if you have tickets you won't need to go to those. To your right will be the lines/turnstiles for Disneyland and to your left will be the lines/turnstiles for DCA.

Here are some "visual aides"....

Just to add... :goodvibes

Here’s a link that shows the HoJo “shortcut”:
(the walk is shorter if you cross Harbor Blvd. at Manchester)
www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=88663

Here’s a wikimap of the entrance area:
(on the map, the “security tables” are called the “East Security Guest Bag Check”)
www.wikimapia.org/#lat=33.8093172&lon=-117.9187891&z=19&l=0&m=a&v=2

For the MM on Tuesday:

If you arrive at 6:30am, then you would get in line (with everyone else) at the security tables. (It will make sense when you get there.) Like the previous poster mentioned, Security should open at 6:30am.

If you arrive at 6:15am, then you should still get in line at the (less crowded) security tables. (Don’t wait at the turnstiles :wizard: , because everyone has to go through security first.)

On the wikimap, the turnstiles are located between the “Mickey Mouse Flower Garden” and the Esplanade. The turnstiles that will be open for "Magic Morning" should be clearly marked.

The map & info above is great.

One other thought. When you go to "pick up your tickets" on Monday.....eyeball your Tues. morning route.

- First Security.
- Then you'll walk by the ticket booths (but you won't have to stop Tues. morning at the ticket booths if you have your tickets :).
- Last...eyeball the front gate(s) at DL (& DCA). (& maybe check out the first few yards of DTD since you're there).

If you visualize on Monday night (when you pick up the tickets) what & where you'll be going at 6:30 am Tues. am, you'll look like an old pro on Tues. :thumbsup2

& I do recommend doing MM your first day & no oversleeping!! ;)

Have a great time at Walt's Park! :hippie:
