First Timer - How Much Time for MK?

We're doing a 5 day trip with a 4 year old in a few months and I'd agree that 2 1/2 days is probably right for MK. We're only doing 4 park days with one 1 being a 1/2 day at EPCOT (solely for the new Frozen Ride and Nemo).

As to the comment made about leaving to take naps/breaks, I think it all depends on where you are staying. We made the decision to say at the Grand Floridian specifically to be on the monorail.

Granted, leaving the park and getting to the hotel is not a 5 minute affair, being able to get back and forth within 30 minutes for us was well worth it.

Ultimately, it also depends on your kid. I know there is no way I can get mine through a full day without some type of rest or change of scenery. :-)

Thanks everyone for all of your input! HS is actually a must-do for us, given all the Star Wars stuff. For example, we'll make that one an early arrival day in order to do JTA. Based on a lot of the input, I think our plan will be to go ahead and hit MK on arrival day, to start familiarizing ourselves and make use of another set of FP+ there. We'll then have another 2 days at MK over the trip, and one day each for Epcot, AK, and DHS. If only Disney would release the fireworks and parade schedules 6 months out, so that we could factor all those in to our ADR plans!

I think this is a great idea. Also park hours are shorter so I would just go until we were too tired. I don't think you'll have much of a problem going RD to close or near closing especially if some parks close around 7-8. I would skip midday breaks at the pool if it's not too hot. Our midday breaks were never to nap but to go to the pool. Maybe do lunch ADR's instead of dinner so you can get some rest??

You might want to check out Easy WDW for their free crowd calendars to help plan which park to go to for each day. Avoiding the crowds will make your trip better. I would definitely avoid Saturdays at MK.
