We are leaving in 10 days to arrive, and I need suggestions and yes, I know it is late, but I need to find out where would be a good restaurant to celebrate my son's 11th birthday!!! He is sports minded, and still loves Cartoons and Disney characters and shows... We are staying at the Grand Floridian and it is the day we arrive.. Need somewhere to go for dinner... Please make suggestions...

What kind of food does he like since he will be considered a Disney Adult if you are on the dining plan.

You say that your son likes sports? There's an ESPN Club resturant at WDW's Boardwalk Inn area. I'm sure your son would be happy celebrating his birthday there.

He will eat anything. He specifically likes steaks, chicken, burgers.. He is turning 11 but still loves kids things. It is the first day we arrive, I just want him to have his birthday dinner in a neat atmosphere. Somewhere they will make a big deal out of it, or at least a little deal.. LOL. We are a family of 5. my other kids are ages 8 and 13.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge might be fun. We've celebrated DD's birthday there a couple times and one year they really went all out. It was a lot of fun.

It's posts like yours though that make me wish there was a Phineas & Ferb character meal!!!

That is so true our 9 year old son would love that!!

I hate to say it but you might have to settle for what you can get. We just booked for a month out however and got some really good choices. Don't think ESPN takes ADR's so that might be great. Will you have park tickets for that day?? A character meal would be fun but might not be possible at this point. I think that Prime Time Cafe at DS would be fun as long as he is a good sport at being joked with. While I am not a fan of WCC, most kids LOVE it and it is easy to get to from GF. Maybe one of the steak houses or Rainforest cafe, It's not on the DDP so easier to get into.

I booked the Whispering Canyon Cafe, hope it's ok!!! Just want it to be real special for him!!!!

Hope your family has a great night at WCC. I have also booked for my Son's 11th birthday, in May 2012. Would love to hear back if you have any tips after your visit.

If you want it to guarantee that is real special for him, you need to plan, and pay, for that. What ANY restaurant in WDW does for birthdays is hit or miss. You may get a cupcake with candle, but that is about it. If you want more than that check out the Disney Florists or the Cake Line and order him a special cake for dinner. There is a cake thread here that has lots of info.
Have Fun.
