Hi Everyone

We've decided to go to Universal this trip and we know virtually nothing about what to expect.

We have 7 day/2park tickets and fast pass tickets for 11/26 and 11/28.

Do they have anything special for Christmas that requires an extra ticket?

Also what rides and/or shows are not to be missed.

Really, any information would be appreciated. My DH is a thrill seeker, me not so much (and I get motion sickness). I like shows. My sister will be with us so she can do the rough rides with him. I'm content to sit and wait.

Welcome!

Well, not to miss shows/rides?

IoA: Spiderman, Hulk, Dr.Doom, Popeye, Dudley Do-Right, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Dueling Dragons, Suess Trolley Train, Cat in the Hat
USO: Revenge of the Mummy, Jimmy Neutron, Shrek 4-D, Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue, Terminator 2: 3-D, Horror Makeup Show (DO NOT MISS!), Men in Black, Twister

Take LOTS of pictures! And as a tip, go up to the top of Me Ship, the Olive in Toon Lagoon (IoA) for AWESOME views of the Hulk and Lost Continent.

EP is good, lines are MUCH shorter (most helpful during peak seasons, i.e. vacations)

Christmas-no extra tickets needed. There is the Macy's Christmas parade in USO, and Grinchmas in IoA. Plus, the parks and hotels are all decorated.

Are you staying onsite?

Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

Thanks Amanda.

Now, can anyone tell me which rides are rollercoasters. I just can't do them anymore and I don't want any surprises. Are all the rides in the open so you can tell if they're rollercoasters. I don't think so.

I can't do slanted inclines, like on Space Mountain. I can do things like Tower of Terror and Run Away Train rides at WDW.

My understanding is that IOA is mainly RollerCoaster Type rides. Is that right?

I think you'll find a lot of helpful information in the FAQs, which is a sticky up top of this page. Enjoy your first visit. :)

No...IOA is not mainly coasters. IOA has Dueling Dragons, Hulk, P Flyers and The Flying Unicorn...that's it.

The rides that are coasters: ROTM, Dueling Dragons, P Flyers, Hulk, The Flying Unicorn and the Woody coaster. With the exception of ROTM, all coasters are outside.

I'm more of a thrill seeker like your DH, and a bit picky too, so these are the ones I'd recommend him:

Universal Studios

Return of The Mummy
Jaws -- nevertheless, it kinda depends on the skipper
Terminator 2: 4D

Shrek is fun and has one of the best pre-show, but it doesn't pump adrenaline. And although MIB has great theming and interactivity, I couldn't help but feeling it's just a simple dark ride with a video game bonus. Couldn't understand why it was rated as a thrill ride. IMHO, it's not.

Island of Adventure

Hulk
Popeye (if you like wet ride)
Jurassic Park
Spiderman
Dueling Dragon -- don't forget, Fire is a bit faster than Ice, but it will make you feel VERY woozy afterwards. If you're prone to headaches, I don't recommend you to ride Fire. The Ice side has more twists.

If you love Tower of Terror, you probably won't like Dr. Doom because it's just a poor man's version of it. And while Dudley-Do Right is okay, I prefer Jurassic Park any day.

Have a great vacay!
