first timer - fast passes/reservations

If we arent staying in a resort on property, only in DTD (ny husbands work made the reservations...so at least our room is free!) But does this mean we can't make fast pass selections online? Only those staying in a resort can? I've linked our tickets and got a reservation for Cinderella table but trying to get fastpass for others and it's not letting me. I'm thinking the problem is that we arent in a resort there??

It's only in a testing phase for specific WDW owned resorts at the moment.
