Oh my gosh...I am so very excited. Today marks the 90 day count-down to our very first family visit to DisneyWorld! I am excited, scared, thrilled, and nervous all at once. We honestly purchased the DVC membership with THIS trip in mind! Any suggestions, tips, words of advice???:goodvibes

All the tips and advice can be found in these threads. :goodvibes

Now is the time to say Welcome Home! and Welcome to the DISboards!

Take your shoes off and stay a while :)

THANK YOU! I am so very excited! Hopefully some day I will understand all the acronyms and how to use the cool pics. For now, though, I thank you on the warm-hearted welcome!

Welcome home!!! Where did you buy?

We bought at the Grand California Villas. We are AZ residents and have never even been to FL, but we go to CA once a year [we missed last year because we purchased the DVC Membership and couldn't afford the trip :(]!

I seriously cannot wait!

When we joined in 93, we made a big mistake. On our first trip we had to do and see everything as if we would never go back and WDW was packing up and leaving for another planet.:scared1: Learn from us and hurry up and slow down. Enjoy the little things they will be your most precious memories.
Congrats and enjoy.

Congrats and Welcome Home!
Depending on how many days you are there you don't have to do it all. And, as stated above, the blessing of owning DVC is you know you will be back. As westcoasters, we like to have leisurly mornings, enjoy some pool time, and focus on evening at the parks. The kids, who are 16-26, love the late magic hours and we stay until 2 or 3 am!

Have a wonderful time on your first DVC trip! Anything special planned?

Just have a wonderful time and try not to do too much. The best part of DVC membership is you know you're going back.

Welcome Home!!!

Congratulations and welcome home! We've never been to California. We hope to go some day. However, until that time, our trips to WDW are certainly keeping us quite happy. I don't have any particular advice to give you. I just wanted to say welcome. We LOVE going. We enjoy the meal plan. We get season passes but not sure that would benefit you, traveling as far as you do, although you may look into the passes that are good at Disneyland and WDW. Take your time, enjoy the magic, and don't expect to see everything...you'll be back. I'm excited for you!

DH and I bought right before we got married, and after one one trip to WDW. We loved it, but learned what several people have already said here... SLOW DOWN!!! We rushed around so much and were absolutely exhausted by the end of the day. We went for 7 nights and I ended up getting very sick on the 5th day. It ruined the last few days for us, but when we went back for our honeymoon we slowed down and really loved the trip. Now that we now we can keep going back we take the time to watch the parades, kiss under the fireworks, and sit down when the crowds get too large. We have found new things each trip and know that we will find something new every trip.

My other recommendation is to really enjoy every moment and if possible lock your cell phone up in th safe. No one needs to get a hold of you that badly at WDW, it can wait until you get back to the room.

Have fun!!!!:cool1:

OH MY GOSH, thank you for the tip! :worship: I have been planning and planning, so that we don't miss a thing! Hearing that it soured you makes me think that I should probably stop the scheduling and planning! Thankfully, we are going for 10 days, so we HOPEFULLY will have time to take it slow, smell the churros and enjoy the characters and not feel like we missed too much?

Thanks for the congrats, but I don't know what an ADR is yet. I promise to give a better reply once I figure it out!

You bought at the GCV? :thumbsup2 They are gorgeous!

Where are you staying in WDW?

We did buy GCV, and I cannot WAIT to get there, too. The plan, for now, is to take my parents with us to WDW this year (staying first 5 days at WLV and second 5 days at AKV), and then go to Disneyland in 2011, taking his parents and staying at the GCV! Thankfully, the entire clan consists of DISNEY FANS!

WOW...2-3 AM!?! I am pretty sure that none of us will make it that late. Our munchkin is 8, and hopefully he will just be willing to try the rides!!!

Thanks for the tips, we are planning on learning about the pools and all of the leisure stuff at Downtown Disney!

THANKS for the link! I will check it out post haste...

As for the anything special, other than the first trip, nothing special. We are taking my parents and it will be a three generation trip. Could be interesting!

THANK YOU ALL, so much for the tips and advice!

Truthfully, I was already starting to stress out and I am only PLANNING the trip!

I promise to slow down and enjoy it!!! (I am sure that my family will thank you for this, as well)

:thumbsup2

I think most of us would agree that planning a trip to WDW is the best part of the process! Have fun and enjoy! :cool1:
