First time with Hertz

I have only ever rented from National. For December I got a good deal through hotwire and got Hertz. How does a rental from Hertz work? I read somewhere that they have a state-of-the-art facility at the airport now...what does that mean? I am not affliated with any Hertz frequent renter program (gold or whatever).

I went back throught the 12 pages of posts that it would let me, but couldn't find anything.

It pretty much means they are in the airport now, located on the second level of the garage. They have frequent rental programs and that could mean "state of the art", but, they had those when they were offsite. They do assign your car.

We used Hotwire last May. Only one small problem that Hotwire did resolve after our vacation. We had reserved for 7 days + 1 hour showing as 8 days on my Hotwire confirmation. Well, Hotwire only paid Hertz for 7 days. Upon checkin Hertz required us to pay the extra hour. We paid then Hotwire reimbursed us the add'l. Hotwire was hoping that Hertz would not charge the add'l hour or that we would return it early.

Hotwire did reimburse us after I faxed them the Hertz receipt plus they gave us $20 on our acct for later use.

The staff at Hertz were awesome working with us on the situation.

We'll be using Hertz in April 2012. Now I know where they're located in the airport.

Their facility is nice for members of their Hertz Gold Rewards program, basically you just walk to your assigned car by going to the main display board, find the stall you are assigned and go.

For those who are not a member of their Gold service or those who use Priceline/Hotwire there isn't much difference from the other rental companies.
