Was in Disney this past weekend (Dec 6-7) for business. Had originally not planned on going to parks due to FP+, but ended up doing 1-day parkhopper with a friend. We didn't buy our tickets until Friday. Plan was to start at DHS at 8:00 for EMH, burn 3 FP's, move to Epcot around noon, then to MK late afternoon (with EMH, MK was open until 3:00 am).

At DHS we did TSMM, ToT, RnR, and Tot with no waiting. Realized we were going to be out of park before our reserved FP's, so changed them to Epcot. My friend looked at FP availability in Epcot, and Soarin was available at 10:40, so he took it. We went on to my account (our tickets weren't linked, and my phone was slow as molasses), but only Soarin times we could get were 4:00pm. A FP kiosk CM told us to talk to FP "guest services" at Epcot. So we finished off DHS with Star Tours (no wait) and were out of DHS by 9:45...great start to the day (although FP had nothing to do with it).

At Epcot, FP CM linked our tickets and as a "one-time" accommodation gave me a Soarin FP for 10:40, which was nice of him. To knock out our first three FP's, went on Nemo and Figment on either side of Soarin. So at about 11:45 checked 4th FP availability...Soarin and TT not available until early evening, so took Spaceship Earth at 1:00. After using that one, checked for 5th FP, and TT and Soarin no longer available.

Got to MK at 4:00 and checked FP availability...mountains not available until after 8:00, and PP not available until 7:15. Took Splash at 8:35. MK much more crowded than I was expecting...lines for mountains generally 60+ minutes...7dmt 90 minutes. Was most surprised with potc...lines 35-40 minutes and looked even worse than that. So, found ourselves basically looking for the shortest line for whatever B-list ride we could scrounge up. Blech.

In early evening lines for Splash and btmrr came down to 30 minutes or less, so ended up riding btmrr twice (Both times SB line posted at 30, but actual was 15. Although it was bizarre...after coming off btmrr the first time, the posted time jumped from 30 to 50, and the SB line was out into the walkway. WTH?!).

We ended up leaving at 11:00. Total "big" FP for the day = 2. Not good in my opinion or for how I like to tour.

When buying tickets at hotel, the 2 CM's said that they get complaints every single day about FP+. They each said they preferred the old system better. I also cant' believe how many CM's they have manning the FP kiosks...that's alot of extra help, and not sure they're going to be out of job any time soon.

Thanks for the details! It's great that 2 CMs helped you out with those Epcot FPs so you could get something useful.

You say: "total "big" FP for the day = 2. Not good in my opinion"

In the past, did you mostly only ride using FPs (I.e. Not ride many standby at all)?

Not sure I see the correlation between the advantages or disadvantages of FP+ based on your day. :confused3 You went on at least 8-10 major attractions...if FP+ wasn't needed but twice, I'd say that's good but it's not a reflection on how it works...more of a reflection on the crowds and your desire to hustle around the parks. I guess it's a matter of style and/or need. We usually ride a ride once and move on. Having a FP+ for 3 key rides makes it easier for us to plan our stroll around the park of the day. :woohoo:
