first time with disney visa redemed points

Easily use it as a giftcard in on-property restaurants, stores, and food/snack kiosks!

What we did was have the hotel attach it to the room when we checked in. After that we just did normal room charging with our ticket, in2012. But we knew we would have nothing left over after our stay.

All these years and I never thought to do that. Great advice, then you don't have to worry about carrying it into the parks.

Just to add to what everyone else has been saying, we used our card just like a gift card. Handed it to the server at Rose n Crown Dining room in Epcot, and she used it to pay part of our check. I requested it be returned to us so I could re use it for this year, and she gladly returned it to us, minus the $33 I had applied to our dinner check. So you can use that in combination with any other means of payment such as credit card or cash. Hope this helps!

make sure you have the point downloaded to the card. You can keep the card as well and continue to use it until the card expires.

Pay attention because there is apparently a button near the end of the transaction that I missed the first time I did it and I found myself at Typhon Lagoon with no money, no credit cards, no charging privileges and the rewards card I had planned to use was empty (and 2 hungry kids).

Also, keep in mind that if you have tons of points available to redeem and might not use all of it in Disney, do not load all of it on the card at once. Your card has an expiration date. If the points are still in your Chase account, they don't expire but as soon as you put them on your card, they expire when the card does.

Once your card is loaded, yes, use it like a gift card.

Good idea on buying a gift cards. I'll remember that when I see that some points are about to expire.

As to rewards card, we got one in Sept. 2012 and it's expiration was end of December 2013.

Can you still take your Disney Visa to MK and have a CM put your reward dollars on a gift card? I was able to do that 2 years ago. I can't remember the name of the building, but when you walk into the park, it is to your left.

The card will expire on December 31st of the year following the year it was issued. In other words, the card I was issued in February will expire December 31, 2015.

I find it easiest just to call and ask for the redemption rewards to be added to the card. It is done immediately.

Translation: You can go to guest relations at the 4 parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom) or DTD (Downtown Disney).
