So we’ve never booked a verandah. EVER. We plan to book our first on the Treasure to celebrate a milestone b’day. For those who have had a verandah on the Wish, your feedback would be most helpful please. I have just looked at the deck plans and 1) was surprised at how few inside staterooms there appear to be compared to the other ships 2) it appears to have a LOT of rooms with verandahs. So, are lifeboats going to be an issue or be a partial obstruction? If so, what deck level would this impact? I don’t want to give the mouse both arms and legs so keep that in mind but I also don’t want an obstructed view. Any help or guidance on how to navigate this when booking opens for me later this week would be appreciated. And I do see on the deck plans there are a few areas they haven’t declared yet - magic in progress. I look forward to hearing your feedback and thank you in advance!

And what is the difference in a navigators verandah and a regular verandah?

Editing to add I was able to find the navigators verandah. Appears to be sort of sealed off with big open hole.

Our family is a fan of aft verandah rooms. We love the view sailing and when we come into port. We just returned from a Labor Day weekend cruise sailing in 9184.

Start looking at videos of Wish cabins where you can find them. I did, in preparation for booking the Treasure. Not every video gives a good look at the balcony view.

A big difference between the original 4 ships and the Triton class appears to be the open (uncovered) Promenade on Deck 4. Instead of standing on your balcony and looking down at the ocean, you see the deck. For that reason, I would recommend going up a few decks so it’s not right in your face.

If smoking is allowed on the Promenade, it would probably be on the Port side - following the pattern on other Disney ships. So I pick Starboard.

We like cabins in the Forward section, as we like to do Trivia and other entertainment options located there. (Also the spa - my sister likes to shower there). If ease in getting to food or fountain drinks is a priority, consider Aft. (General info, probably, for you, since you have cruised).

We are looking at Cat 5 cabins - you pay a little more for the higher deck, but not looking at Midship with its larger Family cabins.

Here’s my request priority illustration:
I use it when calling DCL. I don’t wait for suggestions; we save time by going straight for my request. Then move down the list as needed.

The numbers in a column are all my secondary choices. The yellow bar beside these cabins represent ones that are not across from gray areas.

My standard rules are cabins above, below, and to the sides of my cabin. Try to avoid gray areas (crew work areas - the doors might get slammed a lot). Near elevator banks are okay - I have never had an issue with them.

The cabins with curved arrows are the same price as the long row of cabins - but they have odd-shaped (but a little bigger) verandahs. I am willing to trade gray area rule for a slightly bigger Verandah without added cost.

I picked Deck 9, as I am missing Decks 9 and 11 on my list of cabins I have had. (Oh, the crazy games my mind plays. I just happened to notice it when looking at the CClub list of prior cruises). Not everything is logical nor necessary for survival.

Areas to be assigned are probably not cabins - but public areas, possibly shops.

Good luck! Hope you get a great cabin.

Wow, thank you for taking the time to put all this together. Much food for thought. Thanks for all the insight!! Much appreciated.

That is on the Classic ships (Magic and Wonder). On the Dream Class (Dream and Fantasy) and the Triton Class (Wish and Treasure and TBD), they are regular verandas with just slight obstructions around the top from the ship steel. Look up videos of Disney Wish Navigator's Veranda.
