First Time Visiters! HELP

Thanks, after many more hours of help/research..

I think Ive decided on the following package:

Value Resort
5 day Hopper Tickets
Dining Plus
-------------
1774.80 w/ a $300 gift card.

How does that package sound? Also, as far as value resorts go is there one that is the nicest?

I would really check and see if you can get ADR's at this late date before you book the dining plan. We are going March 31st and I made my reservations in 10/27/09. I would also rethink the deluxe dining plan - it is a ton of food and for a first time you are going to want to enjoy the parks not just eat. We do the DDP (one counter, one sit down, and one snack) and it is a perfect balance of eating and touring the parks.

I personally would downgrade to the regualr dinging plan (sit down, sounter, snack) and upgrade to a moderate resort. They are nice and give you more room.

Whats ADR & DDP?

ADR's are Advanced Dining Reservations. Going during March really requries reservations for sit down meals. Go to the disney website and click on the dining reservation link. PM if you have problems.

DxDP - Deluxe Dining Plan (Dining Plus) - 3 sit downs a day (tons of food and sitting

DDP - Regular Dining Plan - one counter, one sit down and one snack a day

Quick service - 2 quick service meals a day and a snack

This is the package I would do.

March 7-12,2 adults, Port Orleans Riverside (standard room), DDP (regular dining plan), 5 day hopper tickets, $500 gift card.

$2165.00

For less than $200 more (after the gift card) you are getting a much nicer resort. POR is so pretty, the pool is nicer, it has boat access to downtown Disney which is great.

Also after seeing the ADRs Im afraid were already too late. Are there small waiting lists than 90 days?

Where do you want to eat. I just went on the dining website and found lots of dinner locations for the time you are there. Epcot had a lot of times available (and they have great resturants). It is not to late for ADR's.

Were not too picky, Ill have to view the list

I would go on the dining reservation site and check out all the different restuarnts available. Some of the very popular ones will not be available but many others are and there food is great. I checked Teppen Ado on 3/10/10 for dinner and they had a 5:20 and 6:15. It is just one of the resturants at Epcot. Also since you have a car check out some of the resort ones.

Play around on the dining site - I would get moving on it though - reservations go quick.

Good luck

You asked for the nicest Value....we love the POP, you might want to pay extra for a preferred room (many will disagree with this) but I like to be close to the food court and buses and pool, if you don't care then don't pay the extra. It is nice to face the outside of the resort, but we were just so far from everything and we have a DD so that was also a consideration.

quick reference guide.
EMH - extra magic hours, allows you to stay in the park for 3hrs past closing time, or 1hr prior to park opening. Certain parks, certain days. I've only planned around EMH nights
DDP - disney dining plan. there's three options, quick service only, regular, and deluxe. I do not suggest the plus, that's 3 TS meals a day, and wouldn't leave you much time to explore everything. plus you're talking like 70-100$ a day on tips depending on where you dine.
CS - counter service. Some place where you can order your food at the counter, then go sit down to eat. more fast foodish.
TS - table service. a restaurant with a waiter. Even on the dining plan, you will still have to pay the tip and any alcohol you order.

Port Orleans - water view
- 5 day park hopper tickets
- quick service dining plan (20 CS credits)
---
total 2156

Port Orleans - standard view
- 5 day park hopper tickets
- regular DDP (10 TS, 10 CS)
----
total 2165

Port Orleans - standard view
- 5 day park hopper tickets
- quick service dining plan (20 CS credits)

Sunday -
MK until midnight with EMH... use this opprotunity to take in the sights. You're first look of the castle. All that fun giddy stuff. Explore the park a bit, and go on some of the bigger rides like the mountains. During EMH you can pretty much walk onto most rides.
Depending on what time you get in, either share a meal at your resort or cosmic rays. There's plenty of big "platter" meals you can get at CS places that are enough to share. (19 credits left)

Monday -
Have breakfast at your resort. They have a massive breakfast platter with pancakes, eggs, bacon, buscuit... it's really really good. Again share this meal, as you'll probably want to head to the parks. (18 credits)
I would suggest heading to Animal Kingdom in the morning, you can usually do most of the park in about 5hrs or so. Stick to the shows, like Nemo and Lion King, and the animals. Flame Tree BBQ has really good meals, and so does pizzafari. (16 credits)
Afterwards head to Studios, they have EMH till 10pm. Most the shows don't go on during EMH, but it'll be a great time to get on the big rides. And catch the Fantasmic show. If there's two, go to the second one. There's no real great place to eat there, so eat where ever. (14 credits)

Tuesday -
Head to Epcot for breakfast, Seasons in the land has great breakfast option.
And while you're there, grab a fastpass for Soarin. That line can be long any time of the year. (13 credits)
Take your time, it's about 2 miles of walking around that park. And I strongly suggest you use some of your snack credits for treats around the world. And there's several countries that offer CS meals that you won't be able to find anywhere else. With snacking you might be able to get away with sharing a meal for lunch. (12 credits)
At dinner time, I'd suggest using your gift card and dining at some place nice. The boardwalk is a 5 min stroll from the back entrance, and there's some great places there to eat. There's not one bad place I can think of either in the park or at a resort. Check out allears.net for menus to see what sounds good. After dinner, head back to Epcot for Illuminations. You should be able to get a good spot about 1/2hr before it starts.

Wesnesday -
Start your day off at MK. The bakery has a lot of good options for breakfast that you can use your snack credits on.
Have lunch here. (10 credits)
In the afternoon, like after the 3 o clock parade, head back to animal kingdom. This time enjoy the rides, like Everest, Kali, Dinosaur... or do them all over again. Either dine at Tusker House and use your gift card, or pick a counter service (8 credits).

Thursday -
Have breakfast at your resort. (6 credits)
And start your day at Studios. Pick someplace for lunch (4 credits). And then either go back to Epcot or MK for your final night to watch the fireworks. Dinner at the park you choose (2 credits).

Friday -
Breakfast at your resort will use up your final two credits. And I don't know how long you want to spend at disney before you head back home. But you can go to DTD to use up your gift card. And grab an early lunch before heading home. If i'm not mistaken you'll get a 15$ voucher for planet hollywood. I've never thought it to be the greatest, but if it's half paid for, might as well go for it.

Your tickets are going to be 560$ total. So from there, you have to decide how much you want to spend on the resort.

You can save 100$ by getting your package with just the base tickets, then upgrading to park hoppers after arriving, using your free gift card.

You can easily add on the Universal parks but treat that part like a separate trip. We love both resorts so we split our stay evenly between Universal and WDW.

Great planning so far!

I would definitely look around on the Disney site to see what is available. However, if you are stuck or having trouble booking call 1-407-WDW-DINE and have them help you make reservations. I recently tried to get ADRs for Chef Mickey's during our trip. I swear I entered every possible time and came up with nothing. I called the dining number and the CM there was able to offer me a ton of options. One of which was for breakfast on my first choice day. I swear I had tried that time frame on my own.

Rainforest Cafe is no longer on the dining plan. So be aware of that if you are buying the dining plan. You can get a list of the restaurants on the dining plan from the disneyworld website. Also they just added a search here on the dis to find restaurants that are on the dining plan as well. I suggest you print the brochure out from the disney world website though to have a hard copy on hand.

We have been to disney world 4 times and have stayed at Pop Century on all 4 of our trips. We love it there. The food court has a good selection and the resort is themed really well. Esp. if you have kids going with you.

This being your first trip if I were you I would put it off to take some more time planning. A first trip to Disney can be very overwhelming and the more time you have to plan the better. Also dining reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance so many of the restaurants that you might want are already booked up. Esp. the more popular ones. If you can not put it off than I would use these boards as well as the unofficial guide to plan plan plan until you leave. Have an idea of which park(s) you are going to each day. Plan your dining reservations based on what park you are going to be in that day. Allow plenty of time for transportation to get to where you want to go. Pick out the attractions that you most want to do as you can not get it all done in one trip. Heck we have done 4 trips as I said and we still have not done it all. There is a lot to do at Disney.

Also be aware that by staying onsite you get an extra hour on select mornings to enter the park early and up to three hours after park closing to stay in the park on select evenings. Be sure to check the park times out here on the dis or on the disneyworld site. Also when you enter a park each day be sure to grab a map and a times guide. Look at the times guide first thing and decide what you most want to see that day. Disney does change the times so just because you see one time here on the web does not mean it will be the same when you actually get there. They add and take away hours all the time. So double check that once you arrive to be sure your plan is still on track.

Enjoy your first trip and good luck planning. Try to stop and take it all in. Remember you will not see it all so try to enjoy what you will see by not worrying about what you are going to miss.
