Hello Everyone! I finally stopped lurking and created a user name :goodvibes
We are driving from San Antonio on July 8th w/ our 4 boys; ages 4, 8, 15 and 16. We are hoping to make our overnight stop in Pensacola. I am looking for suggestions from anyone who as driven this route. As of right now, we only have one reservation at a Quality Inn in Pensacola.

I'm in central TX so I did most of this drive - pit stops at the road side parks are wonderful when you out of TX - we didn't stop at any in TX so I can't say about those - we did keep to the interstates - we just love the multi-stalls (even in the Men's room)
That way you don't feel like you need to buy everyone a soda each time you stop
DVD player in car helps alot - have several movies to change

Thanks, Veronica

Since this is a roughly 1,200 mile trip, it is around 24 hours of driving, correct?
Pensacola is roughly 750 miles, or a little over 1/2 way, right?

There are a couple of threads that might be of help. One is for over 2,000 mile per trip drivers. The other deals with driving from Texas to Orlando.

I am sure others can be of help. Good luck.

A group of my friends did this drive over spring break when we were in college (Trinity). It was a LONG drive, but definately doable. We spent the night New Orleans and another in Sarasota, FL on the way down (a friend was from there). On the way back we drove straight through in shifts. I wouldn't recommend that! Hope you have a wonderful trip and drive safe!
