I am starting to worry/2nd guess going in Dec. Currently we are booked 5 nights Dec. 28th departing on Jan. 2nd in a 2 br. This would be our first time and I am worried because it is winter, off season that we might not get a good impression. I really want to plan a summer trip there so maybe we should wait for June or July? It will take us 9 hours to drive and we would be coming home on a very busy travel weekend too. :scared1:

Any suggestions???

I'm sure it would be relaxing, but I would choose summer over winter if I had a choice. I am going for Thanksgiving but only staying 2 days. I will spend my vacation week there during the summer. Hope you have a great trip. :)

We'll be there Jan 1-3, couldn't get anything for NYE, but OH WELL!! So, I of course think you should keep it.

TBS, we only have a 5-6 hour drive, and really, really, really, want to get away for a few days. Cider and cookies in the lobby. Board games. Sounds perfect after the bustle of Christmas! It might give you even more excitement to go in the summer!

Hmmmm yeah it does sound good to escape for awhile. That is kinda why we first decided to do this. Maybe 5 nights might be too many. We were going to arrive on Monday and depart on Sat. Maybe 4 nights.......hmmmmmm decisions decisions.

I am from DC area and would either make it to WDW at Christmas or wait until summer, or at least Spring Break for HHI--even Spring is dicey (3 years ago--heat wave and 85+, 2 years ago 47 degrees and icky. Last year--sort of Ok, but windy), but you usually get a few decent days. At least at WDW, if it is cold, you still have tons of fun things to do.

We have been to WDW 4 times in Nov. and 4 in Jan. LOVE THOSE TRIPS. However...we are scaling back on multiple trips to Disney and it will be impossible to go Nov. and Jan now... with crazy kid schedules and one starting college.

I think we are leaning toward a summer trip to HHI.

Hmmm Denise...I'm thinking maybe just a quick THREE night trip might be great.

I would go. HH is very pretty during the winter and there are plenty of things to do. Walk on the beach, biking, kite flying, golf, tennis, etc. The pools are heated to 82 degrees and the hot tub is at 104.

HH is a very different vacation and the winter time makes even more unique. I personally find the winter months more relaxing than the warmer months. However, if you are expecting to sit on the beach the entire time. This is not going to happen at New Years. You might find a few 70 degree type days though.

One thing to keep in mind. HH is packed during the summer and having ownership there is very important for the 11 month window.

Good Luck!

PS.....Leave on Friday instead of Saturday. The points for Friday nights are still very high.

When I've been in the Spring(late March or early April) it's always been nice for us(mid 60's to low 70's). But both trips I heard from locals, "Too bad you weren't here last week it was in the low 80's" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

To Edk35, personally I wouldn't use my points at HHI for a NYE trip, when I can pay $500-$700 for one of the big 3 Marriott's. Now HHI in the spring or the summer no problem.

I have Friday booked on cash....like 145 bucks for a 2 bedroom. :goodvibes

Oh Denise you're killin' me!!:lmao:

For that cash rate you could probably find a place in OC or Bethany and drive it 2 or 3 hours (give or take). I think HHI is going to be chilly at that time of year so if you're just looking to BE somewhere for NYE I would just stay close to home and save my points... OH! I know! How about the bay? You could check for some deals at the Chesapeake Bay Hyatt...it's gorgeous there!!:thumbsup2 We went there once on a deal in like November...they have a HOOOGE outdoor fireplace where you can do smores & stuff...

We live close to the coast of NC and often go to the beaches in Jan and Feb. The weather is a hodge podge to say the least. We have been at times it would be 80 degrees one day and then wake the next morning and the high is 40 degrees with a 30 mph wind. Either way the coastal areas of NC and SC are beautiful any time of the year but honestly I would not spend a week at the coast this time of year due to the fact that the temps and weather in general is all over the place. IMHO I would go for a couple of days and wait until late Spring but with your drive that would be hard to do.
