First time touring solo

you will have a blast!!,go and don't look back. I am doing my first solo Oct MNSSHP 2 times:cool1:. I have the Dad worries and butterfly's going also. My worries Is looking around for my DS(he Is 20 now, but have been going every year for the last 9) to ask him whats next, and then miss him and ask my self what I am doing there!. Just remind your self your there for you,and you deserve It and let the Mouse lead you by the hand.
I like the idea of the note book, stop write down thoughts as you go, maybe ideas, and then see if you did it or something else. I play golf, so i have plan golf every morning except one. Beside that, i plan on no plans, now don't get me wrong i will make up plans for every minute, because that's what I like to do. When I get down there,it will become just a guide, i will stop and watch people and enjoy the laughter, for what makes Disney,Disney!:goodvibes

I'll be on my first solo trip in October too! October 4-9. I'm planning on doing MNSSHP Oct. 6th (still need to get a ticket). What dates are you going?

Hi there! I did my first solo trip in May 2011 and had a wonderful time!! Everyone here has given some great tips for you and I will add (in case it hasn't been mentioned):

* Do the "behind the scenes" type tours if you can. My 7-year old would never last sitting through this stuff but I was fascinated. I did the Wild African Trek (AK), Behind the Seeds (Epcot), and Keys to the Kingdom (MK) tours.

* Don't be afraid to bring a notebook or your tablet to jot notes, take pictures etc. During my meals (I LOVED doing dine-in and being able to reflect on my day) I took notes, reviewed pictures and I didn't feel awkward at all. When I could, I sat at the Chef's Table so that you could get all the extra loving. I saved money by having a studio suite with a fridge and stocked it with breakfast items so I always had breakfast before I started my day

*Start your day EARLY! I always do my trips at low crowd times, but it really lends to a different type of appreciation to get up and out early, maybe for rope drop and then be able to leave and relax the rest of the day to enjoy other things.

*Solo travelers can usually spot each other in a crowd. Its fun to pick an evening to just get together for drinks or dinner or join in one of the meet ups from here. It kinda breaks the lonliness a little bit.

Enjoy!

Getting excited now...I leave in TWO days for my very first SOLO trip to WDW! I've done the parks too many times to count, with the whole family and extras as well as just with my husband. Now it will be just me, myself and I and I'm not sure what I'll do yet!

No tours scheduled...just want to explore the parks at my own pace and do my own thing. I'm thinking of trying to grab a meal at Jiko one night at the bar (one of the few signatures I haven't tried yet) and maybe heading to Hollywood Studios one night just to see Hyperspace Hoopla since it looks so fun...but also CROWDED! :scared1:

Trying to get over the mom guilt of leaving my 3 kids behind with my husband, but he travels a LOT for work and I do the solo mom thing all the time while he's out of town for days and weeks at a time.

I'm only there for 3 short nights but hoping I can do some new stuff, try some new foods, and just enjoy people watching in the parks for a while!

It's been a while since I've posted, but I am now planning my first solo trip to the world. I opted for POR and Deluxe Dining and have all the ressies made. I welcome any tips that others may have to offer on the best way to do the solo thing.

I'm not sure how long your trip is or your budget is but when I visit WDW or DLR I enjoy doing the tours. I've done the segway and scuba diving tours at Epcot and Walking in Walt's footsteps at Disneyland. I would highly recommend the segway tour. I would also suggest that you split your days. I like to visit the parks in the morning and take advantage of the magical mornings especailly if you are staying on property. I also enjoying having a nice sitdown lunch at one of the resorts and rest a little in my room before I head back to the parks in the evening. Aside from that going solo allow you do to do what you want when you want so your really not commited to anyones plan but your own. Have a great time.

I just booked a couple of tours. Any idea why they wouldn't show up on the new site (or phone ap) under reservations or plans?

I had the same experience. I booked a Keys to the Kingdom tour a few days ago and when it didn't show up I contacted Disney. Since my tour was beginning before the gates opened, I wanted to be sure I could get in. I was told the gate CM would have a roster of everyone going on the tours and would allow us to enter the park in plenty of time.

In short, the tours are in the system, they just don't post to your itinerary. Just make sure you bring the reservation number with you in case there is a hiccup.

Yes, bring a small notepad or something to read. Another tip not mentioned yet: use the restroom before being seated at a restaurant. Some people are OK leaving their food/drink/personal items unattended, but I'd rather not. Likewise, when I go up to a buffet, I carry my purse (and camera and phone).

Going solo in January for a week for Marathon weekend. I cant imagine taking a trip solo at this point. Be interesting especially with 4 days of running.

Btw. I think they ended the Segway tours.
