we are planning our first trip to california at the end of sept for 2 weeks, we have been to disneyworld for the last 8 years in a row and so our heart does lie in orlando but we decided to try something new and was wondering what things we should try and do and things to avoid, we have a 5 day disney pass and the la go card as we plan on doing all the theme parks and the halloween stuff, but the one thing we will miss is the diamond celebration, we are staying about a block from disney.

This is the right board to search and find.

- Parades
- Fireworks
- RSR
- MadTParty

Make sure to be in Cars Land at dusk when they turn on all of the neon lights and they play " Life is but a dream". I get goosebumps every time. :-)

Ride RSR at night as well...... It's a totally different experience than during the day!

Have a great time!

There's so much to re-learn for us! We're going back to DL this summer after having done WDW for most of our kids' lives. It's exciting... Have fun!

You'll probably find 5 days is too many. It's much smaller than WDW. I would say 3 days is plenty, especially in Sept when you aren't dealing with crowds. It's often warm in Sept, so GRR should be on your list - from what I remember of WDW, it's better than KRR. It will be fun to compare DL to MK - it's basically the same layout so you get this weird deja vu feeling. We love Storyteller's Cafe for lunch or dinner. It's in the GCH and you can use the hotel entrance to get into DCA after you eat. Try to get seats in front of the castle for the fireworks show. If you can't, they also do special effects on it's a small world, so you could go back there instead.

When we go we do 5 days and like it; it allows plenty of time to do things we love over and over. As for must-do at DL I'd start with things WDW does not have: Carsland is a MUST both day and night including Radiator Springs Racers. Matterhorn is unique. See the parades and shows and fireworks. Indiana Jones is unique (though similar to Dinosaur I believe). The facade to It's a Small World is much better at Disneyland. If I remember right Finding Nemo is unique too--didn't they take the subs out at WDW? You'll find DL is more compact than WDW and may feel small to you--the Castle surely will. But I really like the ease of getting from ride to ride without all the travel time between rides and parks like you find at WDW. Enjoy California!

Besure and check out the Sleeping Beauty Walk through at the castle.
