Hi there. I'm new to this board, but it looks like a great resource.

We live in Holland and have a trip booked for the end of August, 3 days/2 nights. It will be my husband and I, our 2 children (11 and 3 years old), and my mother. We are staying at Davy Crocket's Ranch. Does anyone have any experience staying there? We have one of the 2-bedroom huts.

Also a slightly embarrassing question: What chance does a very overweight person have to go on the rides? Will there be anything I can get on, do you think?

Thanks in advance! pirate:

Hello PrincessDanielle and welcome to the DIS!!

Have you had a look at the great Davy Crocket Ranch FAQ here?

I'm think there was a thread recently of somebody asking how many of the rides larger people were able to do. I can't find it at the moment, as the search doesn't seem to be working, but I'll carry on looking. :)

Thank you so much, Bexx. I looked through the 5 pages of posts available, but didn't see anything, I must have missed it. I didn't see that FAQ either, thank you for the link!! Off to read...

Found it :) It was over a month ago, so that is why you didn't see it. If you want to see more threads from further back, just go down to "Display Options" near the bottom of the main DLP page.

Thank you so much, that was very helpful. I'm mortified that this is even an issue. I'm working on losing some of this for our trip to the States next year, but it's very difficult. (I'm American, my DH is Dutch.) I'll be carefully reading that WDW at Large site!

we stayed at hte davy crockett ranch in march this year and it was great,we would stay there everytime if you could stay without driving there, some of the cabins could do with a bit of upgrading but it was perfect for 5 of us ,we had the 1 bed cabin and had ds`s 4and 6 in the bunks and my dd-8 had the double to herself ,we took the pull out sofa, the cabin had everything you need, the shop was brilliant as it sold alot of the stuff you found in the parcs but without all the people and the pool looked brilliant, just didn`t get time to use it ,driving to and from disney each day was on a busy day about 9 minutes (we timed it!)and a very easy route.i would highly recommend it ,just wish we they had a shuttle bus service !

Thanks for that great review, Lizbro. Even though you didn't get to go swimming, do you remember if the pool area seemed very busy? I'm sure we're going to be going to the pool several times, as my girls loooove to swim, and so do I. I think we'll have to make up an itinerary or something to fit everything in! Does the shop have food items as well - milk, bread, etc?

Thanks for the welcome, ware bears!

Hi PrincessDanielle and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

We stayed at the DCR last year and thought it was brilliant. Have a look at the trip reports for some photos and our views :)

if i remember right the pool area had swimmers but wasn`t heaving, the shop sells food stuffs inc bread and the shop is quite expensive,,the breakfast is very good as you 2 croissants for each person, cartons of orange juice for kids ,coffee sachets or tea bags and a litre of long life milk each day ,a french stick and various little packs of choc spread jam and marmalade, the shop sells most stuff food ect but from what i`ve read its best to take a trip to the supermarket at val d`europe (auchen?)for stock ups,the restaurant was ok nothing special but we all were so tired the first night it was food!!anymore questions feel free to ask!

Hi PrincessDanielle

We stayed at DCR last August. First time at DLP. We really enjoyed DCR and would go back there. The pool is very good, wasn't too busy even in August, although we used to go in middle of the afternoon. I also didn't find the restaurant particularly good. It was alright, perfectly edible, but not much variety I thought. Really depends what foods you like I suppose. The shop is pretty good, although a bit expensive. We didn't bother getting anything from the auchan supermarket. It was a nice place to be, away from the hustle of the parks. Simple to get to and from the parks with your car, but be careful coming back from the park, because the only sign for turning off the "highway" for DCR, says "DCR next exit" and it is some way infront of it. I would like a 2nd sign saying exit now! We are staying at Sequoia Lodge soon, I just hope it is as good as DCR!

Hope you enjoy your stay.

Tosty.
