First time to disney ever!!

I just have a few questions and just maybe you guys can help me out.this is my first time flying anywhere.this is a surprize trip for my kids which are 5 and 7 yrs old.we are staying at the bestwestern lakeside.i was wondering what is the cheapiest way to get to the hotel from the airport.the hotel does not have a shuttle bus for that but they have it for the amusement parks.does anyone know what is actually near this hotel as far as stores or restuaraunts.we are going in may.where would be the best place to take the kids on the first day we will be arriving in florida at 10:45am.are there water rides in mgm or is that in a seperate park.if you can give me any ideas that would be great thank you

We've always rented a car from Alamo or whatever we could get a good deal through. I found it was cheeper than paying for a shuttle and we could stop by a grocery store and get goodies. There is also an Alamo office going into the MK and they will shuttle you to most DW resorts--you might call about off property--there maybe an office closer to where you're staying. Make sure you check on the"hot deals" section of rental car co website. Then when we left we just did the whole thing in reverse. Good luck!
