First time rental with Hertz Gold membership and pick up

I'm seeing conflicting information about the Hertz Gold and picking up the car. On the website it says I can go straight to the garage, but on the paper that the membership was on, it said the first time I rent, I need to go to the counter. I really don't want to go to the counter.

Who has sighed up recently and what did you need to do for that first rental?

Not recently (I signed up a few years ago) and I also had to go to the counter on first rental. I went directly to the Gold desk at the airport I rented from. If your first rental is at MCO, go out to the garage instead of the counter in the terminal.

It won't take too long, maybe 10 minutes. I was "upgraded" to a Chevy Impala with XM radio and Neverlost GPS, for what its worth.

I hate Hertz but have to use them for work. I am GOLD but 95% of the time my car is not waiting when I get there and I have to go to the desk anyways. Just go to the GOLD desk if your name is not on the board. Get used to having to go to the desk.

I set my Gold profile to send text alerts. If I don't have a text or email telling me to proceed to space 123 to pick up my Nissan Versa, I know I have to go to the Gold desk.

Yep, you arrive on level 3, pick up luggage from level 2, and ground transportation is on level 1. Cross the driveway to the parking garage, take escalator to 2nd floor, follow signs to Hertz Gold booth.

Before you go in, take a look what is available as "Gold Choice", Hertz version of Emerald Aisle. As Gold, you can swap for any of those no charge.
