My first time renting a car was great. We had reserved a minivan for $176 for 5 days, using National free enrollment into EA (thanks to DISboard), got Disney Club discount and used DC
coupons (thanks to DIS). Went straight to garage, no vans in EA area, asked employee what to do, he said take your pick of others, got in and drove to check out booth. There must have been a slight glitch, i had to give her my confirmation papers and she had to type in everything, we took about 5 minutes longer than the car ahead of us. But she never complained that there was a problem. Thanks to CIGAR 95 for great directions to Albertsons grocery on Orange Blossom Trail, very easy off and on and prices were okay. HAd a great trip

eeyore's mom,
Glad to hear it worked for you. But, tell me, how did you reserve a mini van via emerald aisle? I have yet to be able to rent anything but a intermediate thru full size that way, they always bump it back to counter or choice.

they often tell people to go to an aisle and pick something when what they want is not there.....

but what the "workers" tell you and what is actually allowed may be different sometimes....( a manager told me once that if someone did that they would end up "paying" the higher rate )

so it depends who is on the line and who is in the booth ....

seems like she might have had emerald choice if she specified a "mini van".....

just tried to rent a mini van on the emerald aisle and it kicked me into "emerald choice"...

so in this case eyes got what she "paid for" it seems

When my friends were there a few weeks ago, there were only intermediate cars on EA. They waited about 5 minutes, and a new Dodge Durango was driven onto the aisle and they nabbed it! We lucked out in June and got a minivan. I'm a little less hopeful about December when we'll be arriving at 10:30 p.m., but I'm prepared to wait around awhile if there are only small cars on the aisle. There are 5 of us, so it's worth it to wait a bit for a larger vehicle ;) .

it seems if you do not mind playing the waiting game, they are always adding cars to the aisle so you might luck out...

some people do not want to spend more time than necessary in checking out a rental car so and thus have to "take" what is on the lot at that moment
