First time purchase through Disney

I read another thread about someone going on a waiting list to purchase a first time DVC membership into a resort other than SSR or AKV. Is this possible? I thought that you could only purchase those two directly from Disney unless it was an add on to a previous contract.

SSR AND AKV are currently the dvcs being offered for active selling. You can in fact buy the other resorts if disney has them available. If they do not have any stock persay available you can go on a waitlist to purchase those resorts. My opinion only if you want the other resorts you can get them cheaper through resale.

Right...and in most cases, the idea of helping you buy at "sold-out resorts" will be actively resisted by your guide. Some guides have flat lied to customers and told them no such thing was possible. If I had a guide who did that to me, I'd be on the phone to a manager demanding a new guide and I wouldn't be coy about why.

But the truth is, you can buy points at any DVC resort directly through DVC. As mentioned above, in many cases you will pay more to buy direct, and you'll have to buy a minimum contract (160 points, I think). But you can buy direct.
