First Time - Overwhelmed!

Okay - more questions now...

I realized I did not even consider GF - is it worth the extra cost?

Also - while cost is not THE issue, it is AN issue - I have 14 months to save/plan and am certainly willing to pay more for a deluxe if this would enhance the experience, but also don't feel the need to stay in a deluxe if I could be just as happy somewhere else; deluxe mostly for location and a bit of wow factor (still leaning toward CL for that). Also - DM, kids and I are in the park most of the day except afternoon break - but DH spends about 1/2 day relaxing in room and near pool - and would likely be just as happy near the moderate pool as the deluxe.

Also (one more question :cutie:) - when is the best time to start reserving - I would probably use AAA discount.

Thanks Thanks Thanks (you board folks are great)

I personally will not go deluxe because we do not use the resort enough to justify the expense. I think you should really consider how much time you will be in your room, how much your kids will use the pool, and if you want any of the extra amenities, and then decide if a deluxe is worth the extra expense to you. We prefer to use that money for other aspects of the vacation. The moderates all have slides at the pools, so your kids will have something there whichever you decide. (And I have felt a certain amount of WOW factor in every resort we have been in, including Pop. They are all beautiful in their own way.)

I would make a reservation as soon as you decide on a resort. You can always change resorts, dates, etc right up until your last payment at 45 days until your vacation without a penalty. Our last stay we had trouble getting CSR at 11 months out.

All the deluxe hotels technically can fit 5 in a room, so your assumption that you would have to upgrade to stay in the Wilderness Lodge is not true. It is, however, most like the Grand Californian in DLR so it may not be unique to you. However, 5 in a room is going to be tight. Disney rooms are not big. We did it with 3 little kids and we were still tripping over each other.

We are from California, go to DLR often and choose the Yacht Club because we liked how the Epcot area had so much going on in and around it. It was a pleasant area to stroll, plus the pool is terrific for all.

Hi there! I will celebrate 40 this August at the Grand Floridian! Ever since first traveling to Disney 27 years ago, I wanted to stay at the Poly, but, DH and I have are very luck to have a timeshare in Maui and have experienced "the islands". I wanted to be on the Monorail because I love MK and EPCOT most. DH and DsD14 have never been to Disney. So, since we're more traditional than modern, we chose GF over Contemporary. We got a great deal through MagicalVacationTravel.com and even upon checking around again now, I'm unable to find a better deal for a deluxe club level. Good luck on your planning and have a SUPER 40th!!!
