First Time On-Site!! AKV

Hi Everyone - We just booked the second week in June 2013 and it's our very first time onsite! We are staying at Kidani AKV (we just got it by chance a couple days ago through an RCI exchange and I feel like we hit the lottery!!) I think I jumped up and down for the entire rest of the day

I've never stayed on site or visited AKL. Can anyone offer up some must-dos at AKL? We have one son who is 7 and he is an animal nut. Are there areas to see the animals if we don't get a savannah view? How about animal related activites?

Is staying onsite as magical as everyone says? I know when I go to the parks I never want to leave, so maybe this will feel like I'm not actually leaving!

There are so many good spots to see animals without savannah view, you won't miss out. The pool area at Kidani is awesome- you definitely should save some time for the pool. I'm also a big fan of the pumpkin soup at the Mara

There is a free shuttle van that travels back and forth between Kadani and Jombo House. Absolutely make sure you visit the other AK resort.

There are a lot of activities at AKL Jambo/AKV Kidani so make sure you check out the schedule - so much for kids to do - some that I remember - cookie decorating, drum playing, marshmallow roast, movie night, night vision goggles, bracelet making etc. etc. Sanaa is a great restaurant at Kidani - and if you get a table by the window you may have a great Savannah view during your meal. The viewing areas at Kidani and Jambo are both very good - Jambo has a beautiful lobby - Boma is a good buffet, Jiko a nice signature restaurant.

AKL/AKV is a wonderful resort - truly unique and very magical! ENJOY!

Hi - I'm not too far from you - Bridgewater! (just got back from Enchanted Village at Jordans )

Thats great to hear about the view, I have a feeling the room may not be savannah so I'm glad there are still lots of options for animal viewing. Pumpkin soup sounds yummy!!

Wow! That all sounds wonderful! I bet my son will love the drum playing and marshmallow roast. I will definitely check out Sanaa too - thanks for the great info!

Head over to Jambo House and do the Hidden Mickey Hunt (ask at front desk). Night Vision Goggles are cool too on the savannah.

You can only find Okapis on the Pempe Savanna at the far end of Kidani. It is worth the walk down the long hallway to catch a glimpse or two through the hallway viewing areas. I request to stay down there so I can watch them from my balcony. This is the "left" wing from the lobby. congratulations and have fun!
